Fashion Over 50: Valentine’s Day and Wearing Red

It’s the week of Valentine’s Day and many of us try to create different ways to wear red.  Red is a power color and so often we have to select just the right shade of red to compliment our complexions.   Well, what better way to get ideas for how to wear red than by attending the GO RED LUNCHEON for the American Heart Association to raise awareness about heart disease in women.   I have attended three and each year, I am more and more convicted about good health practices….do you carry aspirin in your purse??There were fabulous women ….all wearing red…either in a head to toe outfit or red accessories. My outfit included a cast of brands:

Chicos So Slimming pant, khaki long jacket, a bronze, black and red necklace

Eileen Fisher Red Knit Tunic Top from Dillards

A Perry Ellis Scarf…had it so long do not remember where it is from (sorry!)

Elaine Turner Leopard Flats…I love leopard and red together…just works for me

Here are a few of the lovely ladie at our table…we wore our boas proud!

I have some selections below for you…have fun on Valentines Day and sport some red or pink just for the fun of it!  Tell us, do you have special plans for that day???

KEEP SMILING, EVERYONE!!

  1. Thanks Jennifer…A lot of ladies at the event just wore red in their accesories. It was fun to see all of the different ways to style the color!

  2. My favorite way to wear red is my red lipstick – MAC’s Ruby Woo. I don’t have a lot of red in my wardrobe at the moment, so maybe it is time to look for red pieces. One thing I love is a deep rose (not quite red, but in the neighborhood), but it is very hard to find. And I love leopard and red!

  3. Deep rose sounds like a wonderful shade, Elsie. Hope you find it for spring. Thanks so much.

  4. What a wonderful event!I love red and wear it a few times a week and I must wear it on Valentine’s Day.
    I love your scarf 🙂

  5. What a great event — everyone looks fabulous in their red! Thank you for the reminder about aspirin and bringing attention to heart health for women!! That scarf is perfect against your camel jacket!
