Confidence Opens Many Doors

I am so happy to see the weekend, and snuggle warm and toasty in my cashmere poncho.  Time to get casual and do some reflection.

As I confessed earlier, I had a bit of a slump.  I let comparisons and criticisms get to me.  But, let me assure everyone…I AM BACK.  I write often about confidence and the importance of having confidence in ourselves.

It is empowering and attractive.  Without confidence, I never would have walked into San Antonio Woman Magazine and asked for a job at age 62.  I knew I could be editor, and I was not going to own doubts about myself or my age and allow that to hold me back.

Confidence helps give us the courage to take chances and step out of our comfort zones.  We are more likely to try new things when we are confident.  When I am confident, I literally love to speak to anyone around me whether in the grocery store line or the clothing retail dressing rooms.  When I am confident, I enjoy going out and being seen.

When I am confident, I am more likely to raise my hand and say, “I’ll do it.”  If you are not feeling confident today, then I hope you will continue to join us and keep going forward.  Life is too short not to.  If you are feeling confident, then please tell us what you plan on doing this weekend which may be a little out of your comfort zone.

It’s time for the weekend…enjoy…and Keep Smiling!

  1. I love a poncho and yours is beautiful! What a great post on confidence, and it is very true, when you feel that way you DO go out of your way to talk to people, enjoy yourself and just be ‘out there.’ I don’t have plans to step out of my comfort zone this particular weekend, but a couple weeks from now I’m going on a personal retreat where I’ll be going out to eat by myself and that is WAY out of my comfort zone! BUT!! I’m looking forward to it as an adventure and a way of becoming more of my true self, not hiding in my hotel room stressing about going out alone. I am an introvert and I do love time alone, so why not enjoy some dinners out with myself? 🙂

  2. Love you, Pam!!! Confident, authentic women are all ages and sizes, all colors and personalities, but what’s comfortable/natural for one may be a stretch for another. At all times, we must treat one another as we want to be treated, extending grace and humility – now that’s TRUE beauty!! Enjoy your weekend!!

  3. Pam, your blog is such an enjoyable and nurturing place! I’m always sure to find something interesting, helpful, enjoyable or refreshing here! It’s such a boost to visit here! I am going to spend time on my online Etsy shop (which is in addition to my full-time, weekday job). It’s fun to keep busy and push myself with new activities.

  4. I learned to eat out alone years ago when business traveling and I have done it on occasion ever since. I was like you and finally decided that hiding in a hotel room was no fun…and I was in New York. Once I ventured out, I never went back in! Have fun on your retreat, Karen…relish the moments.

  5. Yes it is fun and so many of us can be entrepreneurs like you are Beth. Way to stay active and keep your mind…and bank account…full. Thanks for the affirmations.

  6. Love the bracelet and I’m jealous of your cashmere poncho. I have a fleece ruanna that I lovingly call my “horse blanket”. It makes me feel hugged every time I wear it.

  7. I do feel hugged when I wear this…it is offered by a fabulous woman out of England named Catherine Robinson…and her company is cashmerebycatherinerobinson….on Sunday I will be snuggled in it by a fire, because the weather here is suppose to turn really cold.

  8. I love ponchos, ruanas, capes, etc., whatever they are called. Your hair looks awesome! Makes me seriously consider going back to bangs, even though I know I will get impatient and try to trim them myself at some point (always a mistake). What you wrote about confidence is spot on, in my experience. Thanks for a great post!

  9. Very well said. You are a real person that all of can relate to. Love the poncho and you sense of style.

  10. I love Catherine Robinson’s things! Actually, just about anything cashmere is fine with me. I have had, as an aside, problems with moths in the last year or two. They only go for the cashmere! So I bought a huge bucket of cedar that had been shaved and make little hanging bags with it. I’ll have to do a blog post! Have a lovely weekend Pam!

  11. I think I have the same top you are wearing under your poncho! From Chicos? I had a job where I would speak to industry groups – sometimes an audience of 500 people. I enjoyed it and reports were that I was pretty good at it. You don’t have to actually be confident – you just have to act like you are. The worst thing that can happen is that they will say no. Learn not to take no for an answer. You’ve got to believe in yourself.

  12. Thank you, Scotti! I appreciate you being here…I love my bangs…but I do have to get someone else to trim them.

  13. Good idea! I think I will follow your lead and pack mine away that way. Thanks Libby.

  14. YES…it is from Chicos and has cool sleeves on it. Fake it till you make it does work. I taught high school speech during 8 summers and that is one of the lessons we went over. Thanks Elsie!

  15. Hello Pamela ?
The ponch is so pretty on you! I would add a little bling like a large
    brooch?
Pamela,I would like to say that I hold on to the Hope that knowing Christ had instilled in me as a child: that
I could go nowhere from His presence,His care,or His abundant grace even when one feels utterly weak and broken. No one can close an open door that God has for you,so I encourage you to have confidence in the Lord. I’m an early childhood educator, speaker and Spanish teacher, and I couldn’t have done this without God and my loving and supportive husband.?
We have sooo much to be thankful for…

    Blessings,
    Raquel
