Fashion Over 50: Wearing Prints With Neutral Rules

Some of my favorite prints are those which are barely prints at all!  I’m not speaking of the leopard cardigan, but of the snake print leggings.  I know they look solid black…but there is the hint of a print on the pants. Here is what I learned from What Not to Wear years ago…this type of print has the same styling guildelines a neutrals…as in, they go with just about anything…any color or print.  That is why the leopard and the snake go together…well, only in clothing…not in the jungle! If a print appears to be a solid from a distance, it becomes a neutral.

So, if you buy pants or leggings like this…do not sweat over what they go with…because they go with anything when they become a neutral.  I will bring you another example tomorrow….until then…

Keep Smiling!

Note: This whole outfit includes past purchased from Soft Surroundings (leggings, cardigan); Chicos (necklace); Macys (leather flats by Lucky); Dillards (Tunic Tank by Eileen Fisher).

I hope little tips like this help!

KEEP SMILING!

  1. What great leggings! I love the print on them. Since they are a solid color, I wouldn’t hesitate to mix them with any print. I have to go look those up at Soft Surroundings!

  2. I did not see them online, Karen or I would have posted them. If you find them, please let me know. They are super soft and comfy.
