Fashion Over 50: Talbot’s Paris-Inspired Fall Collection

Talbot’s fall “Paris-inspired” collection is perfect fashion for women over 50! I am in love with so many pieces in the entire collection and honestly that is rare for me to find so much in one group, and even better… great designs for women of every size.

One of the first style books I read in 2011 was PARISIAN CHIC: A STYLE GUIDE BY INES DE LA FRESSANGE.   I learned so much from her about style for women of a certain age, and why women in Paris always look so great.  The first two sentences which made an impression on me were…

All you really need is loads of self-confidence and a great smile

Parisian style is an attitude, a state of mind.

Well, when wearing this Talbot’s blouse and long button-cuff duster from the new collection, I really understand that confidence- state- of- mind!   Both pieces are perfect additions to my wardrobe and will be worn often this year.  I have always liked Talbots for the fit and for the quality.  Each piece I own, was purchased to speak confidence and professionalism.  The tailoring is impeccable.

Look at the button details…a detail I often see on Ines herself.

What better outfit to wear with my ballets flats…also French inspired. Ines taught me the Parisian women love to “mix it up”…mixing style, mixing price points, etc. Her own mix-it-up list includes wearing a pencil skirt with ballet flats…a pearl necklace with a rock n roll tee shirt and a sequined sweater with men’s trousers.

I will enjoy mixing up my new Talbot’s Paris inspired pieces!  Have you ever taken time to learn from the women in France?  What have you adopted in your own wardrobe from their inspiration?

Here are some of the pieces I like the most right now at Talbots…..

  1. My wardrobe is long overdue for some updating and just plain upping. I’ve always admired women who know what looks good on them and are willing to spend more for a few items they ways feel good wearing. My tendency is to spend less and have a closet full of items I don’t enjoy wearing or just never wear. There is a Talbots 2 blocks from where I live. It’s time for me to stop in there.

  2. I am so glad I stopped in mine Suzanne. You are doing exactly what I am doing…pairing down and adding quality. Sign up for Talbots emails so you receive notices of sales.

  3. Such a great looking collection!! I love that sleeve detailing.
Please sign me up for your mailing list. I’m no longer receiving your posts:)

  4. The details in this collection is lots of fun! You can sign up on the front page of the blog for the emails and I am sorry if there are some which have dropped during all the changes. Thanks for telling me!

  5. You know I’m a huge fan of Talbots! Just placed another order on Monday!! The “Paris” styles are so pretty in the latest catalog – I’m on a roll with the side-zip pants too! I love this duster. Did you get that in Petite? Just curious since I think we are close to the same height and I have to watch proportions! I just love that piece!

  6. It is a great piece, Karen. But I am not a petite, so this not. It comes in other colors also.

  7. I do as well, Ellen. In fact the long jacket and duster with a slim pant is what I wear most to work. Talbots has such great classic pieces. Thanks for stopping by.

  8. I love this look! I don’t have any books on French fashion but have all of Mireille Guiliano’s books. Also, I follow Justine Leconte’s YouTube channel-she is a French designer working in Berlin and I have learned so much from her. Thank you for linking up!
