Fashion Over 50: Monthly Style Tip

My monthly style tip is a little late this month due to the pesky bronchitis that hit me last week!  Usually, I do this on the first Friday, but at least I am still here and not going to leave you high and dry.  Many of us have mild Octobers and do not face real cold for awhile.  So, one of my tips this month is to remember how pretty and functional a ruana o light wrap can be.  The actual defintion of ruana is “a poncho-style outer garment typical of the Andes region of Venezuela and Colombia, particularly in the Boyacá department and Antioquia.”  It is more of a wrap and not as heavy as a coat or jacket.  They are available for all seasons.  The one I am wearing today is a special fundraiser by Ming Wang, another excellent, high quality brand.  Ming Wang has a hope campaign in progress now to raise money for the American Cancer Society, a cause close to many of us.  So, this tip is…you can look awesome and make difference as well with the purchase of this wrap.  Just check it out below.

Next tip…once again, remember to go through your old jewelry, you just never know what you might discover that you forgot about…like me and this lovely little artisan bracelet.  I just re-discovered it and was so happy to find it again.  It is always fun to go back through old belongings and enjoy my entire wardrobe.  I do this every now and then.

Thanks for stopping by…remember to enjoy your wraps and ruanas.

Keep Smiling!

  1. Such a perfect time of year for wraps, ponchos and ruanas! I started wearing them a few years ago, and they do work right up until it turns really cold. I love the one you show here, with all the pretty pattern features in the print. Very pretty and looks cozy. I really need to get over to Dillard’s more often!

  2. What a lovely wrap. The mix of brown and black is perfect for fall! That brown is such a great color for you, Pam!

  3. You have proved that black and brown can be elegant. Ruanas are so cozy yet comfortable in areas that have long warm falls.

  4. Hello Pamela, love the outfit. It looks elegant, put together and comfortable – all at the same time. I too have several wraps given to me by my daughters and I really ought to wear them more !

  5. We had a slight tweak but learned it would go back up on Friday. I feel your pain. Thanks!
