 My reinvention began on the outside at age 50, and it would take a couple of years before I began to work on my insides.  My fifties were dedicated to learning all I could about good health. At age 59, I was diagnosed with early stages of osteoporosis and it was abundantly clear that I needed to join a gym…for the first time in my life! 
I do not recommend waiting that long for anyone, but I also say it is never too late to turn your health around.  That was when I began strength training to build muscle strength.  Here is what I have learned about muscle health:

·         Muscles can control how tired or energized you feel
·         Starting at age 40, you can start to lose up to 8% of muscle mass per decade. This loss translates to up to 25% of your body’s muscle by 70 years old

    Muscles play a role in your body’s movement, balance and posture, as well as your metabolism and even facial structure
·         With the right nutrition and exercise, you can prevent or even reverse muscle loss that you may experience as a natural result of aging or a health setback.

Not only has my bone strength improved, but also my energy levels and flexibility.  My trainer told me in order to get the most out of my workout, I needed to follow up each time with a good protein-packed drink.
