Hit Your Style Sweet Spot: Style Tips for Women Over 50
Welcome to a fun collaboration with Jennifer of A Well Styled Life and Pam of over50feeling40. We desire for all of us… the fabulous women over 50 …to look and feel our best each and every day. After years of blogging for this audience, we have heard from so many of you about your discouragement and despondency when you look in the mirror every morning. But, we both know just how transformative style can be, and hope to encourage you right here each week. We want to see all of us empowered with strength, joy, and confidence.
That’s right…my 2017 style tip discussion begins with a pile of clothes…and the pile grew that day as I pulled more and more from my closet. Cleaning the closet is refreshing…like a cleanse…or vacation…it is invigorating to me …not to mention, inspiring. On Friday, I began this discussion HERE with encouragement to refresh your style in 2017 with a closet cleanse and a challenge to wear your current garments in different ways.
After my closet cleanse, I decided to try another mix up outfit. I took my Eileen Fisher knit dress, and wore it with a kimono and oriental-inspired necklace. I have never thought to do this before and I liked the look.
Sometimes all we need are fresh eyes and to remember pieces we forgot we owned. As you clean or re-organize the closet, think about different ways you can put pieces together which you have never worn together before. It ‘s fun… a new fresh and free way to mix things up a bit. ( I do apologize for the dark pictures…it was too cold outside for my family photographers!)
I also took a huge bag to Goodwill after I turned the closet upside down. I understand my style more today than ever before and have worked hard to build a wardrobe which communicates the messages I desire to send with my appearance. Everything not sending those messages went in the donation bag. Great way to begin a new year.
I hope all of you who try a new way to wear your current garments will share here what you did and how it worked. We would love to hear your ideas.
Now, for another style tip, let’s go over to my friend JENNIFER OF A WELL STYLED LIFE and see what she has for us today.
Perfect, Pam!! A closet purge is the best way to jump start our stalled style so we see clearly how we really want to dress! Fabulous tip.
Your style is so inspiring to me. I am in the middle of a closet purge, too, and trying new combinations of clothes. Nearing 60, it is time to reinvent myself and have fun while doing it. Blessing to you!
Pam, I did the same thing this weekend. We are having a big rain storm here in Northern CA so I knew this was the perfect time to clean out. Thanks for all your wonderful ideas and Happy New Year to you!
Nice look Pam!
I feel really energized by it, Jennifer! Wore a different mix up today and it was fun. Loved your Palm Springs chic outfit!
Thank you Audrey…let us know how its going. If you do not already have my free PDF about reinvented style, just email me at over50feeling40@gmail.com and I will send it to you right away…hoping it gives you some inspiration and new direction.
Thank you Annette! It feels good, doesn't it? Great way to begin 2017
After reading your Friday post, I wore a new combination from my closet yesterday and I'm wearing a different one today. Yesterday I wore a top and a pair of pants that I had never put together before and today I'm wearing a long cardigan over a top that I'd never paired it with before. Not huge changes; just being a bit more creative than usual. Thanks for the incentive!
I do a big closet clean out in the spring and again in the fall when the weather changes dramatically here in Canada.
Bravo, Elaine! It's fun and sometimes gets us out of a rut. Keep the updates coming!
Thanks Susan…It is a new one for me and I think I will wear this to work. Thanks for stopping by!!
Great way to start the new style year, Pam! The kimono is really lovely. Thanks for linking up, xo
