Fashion Over 50: Celebrating Classics

I began the week celebrating classic style in MY METROSTYLE HOUNDSTOOTH SKIRT and I want to continue the discussion today.  I have heard some say classics are boring....but I tend to disagree.  Classics are reliable, chic, always a good choice, and confidence builders.
I know this outfit will work because black & white, pearls, and a touch of leopard are always in style and are a perfect way to rock your holidays and holiday parties.

These gorgeous KALILA PIPING BOOTIE are in the Rockport TOTAL MOTION COLLECTION which has easily become my favorite comfort line.  What is great about it is you have gorgeous style and comfort at the same time.  I wear shoes from this line almost every day to work...exceptionally comfortable for my funky, aging feet!
I also prefer a classic pointed toe because it elongates the look and is slimming.

Never think classics are boring.  You can never go wrong with your style this way.

Happy Wednesday!

2016 Favorite Beauty Products for Women Over 50

I was introduced to some excellent beauty products in 2016 for women over 50.  There are a few I like so much, I use them every day, so I decided to call them my favorite five!  Though we just met, I will keep these in my regular beauty routine.
Beginning with all natural Madison Reed Root Touch Up...perfectly matched and completely all natural.  It is the best product I have tried to cover gray out of many.  Check it out here:

At 63, I have to give some credit to Strivectin for a smooth neck...one I am not yet trying to hide.  Love this roller ball to put on the serum...feels great!

Strivectin Neck Tightening Serum Roller

I have loved this cleanser since I first tried it early in the year, and I still use it every day  I apply it with my hands and take it off with a simple wash cloth.  Contains olive oil and it made specifically for us over 50 beauties!

These hair products by Kerastase are pricey...I know that.  But, they have earned my loyalty.  I have had thick, frizzy hair my whole life and these products tame it the best.  As long as I can, I will continue to use them

This is such a great brow kit by Loreal.  Good color and I love the dual sides of cream and powder plus the small brush and tweezers. I use it every day!

2016 has been a great year for beauty products and I look forward to seeing what 2017 holds...for now I am really happy to have discovered these five!

Psst...these are also good stocking stuffers!!

Keep Smiling!

"The Look of Suede" for Fall Fashions Over 50

I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Yes, we celebrated with food, family, football and fun...this is what I wore. I love this faux-suede top I picked up at Chicos early in the fall.  I am so glad I grabbed it then...because I cannot find one on line for you now!  This was my favorite fall outfit this year...this nutmeg faux suede with my red colored metro leggings from SOFT SURROUNDINGS and on my feet my bronze Cole Hahn ballet flats (from DILLARDS on sale)

This cut-out detail was really what caught my eye when I first saw the garment.

But, now it is time to.....

Put away the pumpkins and begin to get ready for Christmas...there is much to be done...

If you like the look and fell of faux suede/suede, there are still some beautiful garments available and some at great prices.  Check, CHICOS, NORDSTROM and DILLARDS if you need ideas of where to go.

And if you are joining the masses shopping today....be safe...and have a fabulous Friday!

Let the Celebrations Begin and My OOTD

It's that time of year when celebrations run rampant...time with friends and family for many different reasons.  Every now and then a meal with friends turns into a true EVENT.  This is what happened with us last week.

There has been a restaurant in San Antonio for over 33 years called Hsiu Yu and it was a community favorite.

However, kind Mr. Yu was the chef and he is ready to put away his apron at the end of December.

My boss and publisher, Mike has been a huge supporter of the Yu family, so last week, they invited us to dinner...

It really was not dinner...it was an EVENT...with eight courses and Peking Duck in the middle!
I am still stuffed...and confirm the Yu family restaurant will be missed in our city!  (By the way, the Peking Duck was fabulous!)
I wore an Eileen Fisher kimono and long tank from Dillards, and a JJill Ponte Knit Pencil Skirt!  Such a fun evening!
Happy Wednesday all!

Hit Your Style Sweet Spot: Fashion Over 50 for an Autumn Weekend

Welcome to a fun collaboration with Jennifer of A Well Styled Life and Pam of over50feeling40.  We desire for all of us… the fabulous women over 50 …to look and feel our best each and every day.  After years of blogging for this audience, we have heard from so many of you about your discouragement and despondency when you look in the mirror every morning.  But, we both know just how transformative style can be, and hope to encourage you right here each week.  We want to see all of us empowered with strength, joy, and confidence

I put on a Soft Surroundings kimono and headed to my son's home for a fun family cookout this weekend.  It is such a joy to be with all three of my children and my three grandchildren!

I really like a garment like this kimono which looks comfortable, creative, relaxed and fun all at the same time.  It works well for holding the baby and playing with the kids.

With an active bunch, it helps to wear clothes which are flexible and comfortable.

Autumn breezes brought us perfectly beautiful, cool weather for a cookout.  Family, football, and food all go together for us on an autumn weekend.

I am beyond blessed and so....

What did you do this weekend?  Let's go over and see what JENNIFER OF A WELL STYLED LIFE did....

Have a great week!
Linking up with VISIBLE MONDAY

Balsam Hill 12 Bloggers of Christmas 2016

Friends and family know I take Christmas very seriously…it is hands down my favorite time of year.  So, when BALSAM HILL invited me to be one of their  12 Bloggers of Christmas this year, I could not answer YES fast enough.

Each light, ornament, and moment is so very special to me and I have worked tirelessly to make Christmas my own for me and for my family.  Now, with three grandchildren, I hope to pass this love of the holiday down to them.  Christmas is about heritage...cozy...warm...inviting...family to all of us.
My wedding anniversary is also in December, so Christmas for our new family began with a precious snowman I discovered on our first anniversary in Frederiksberg, Texas.  This little guy to the left began my snowman collection.  In the past 32 years, I have built the snowmen, Santas from around the world, and Christmas trees into collections which are all displayed in my traditional red, green, and plaid d├ęcor. My adult children know the stories behind each one.

Last year, I added some burlap to update the look, but every year I enhance the collections.  This year, to be able to add BALSAM HILL ORNAMENTS had me on the brink of tears.  These ornaments are stunning and fit into my own aesthetic perfectly.  I sat for an hour unwrapping each ornament, holding it up and fully appreciating the design, detail, and beauty.

I was like a child in a Christmas movie smiling with pure pleasure while sitting with the ornament box in my lap.  Each one became more special than the last.

We always had a real Christmas tree when my children were young, and we enjoyed the whole process of selection and decorating.  But, my husband and I had already discussed the plus side of artificial trees.  We were just skeptical of finding one which looked authentic.  Upon opening our BALSAM HILL TREE, we immediately knew we had no concerns…the tree is amazing how it is made.  Our 26-year-old son walked in the house and said, “Woa…it does look real!”  The whole family has seen it and put their seal of approval on it…when I honestly expected push back.
Balsam Hill products are incredible…high quality and beautiful in craftsmanship from tree to shining ornaments.  My little snowman started my collections and Balsam Hill is making sure my traditions go on.   I cannot wait to see them next week also.  Balsam Hill will debut their "Deck the Halls" float in the 90th Anniversary Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 24th, 2016. That is another tradition at our house...turkey, the parade, and football!
I have already Decked our Halls and love having them decked early this year.  Check out BALSAM HILL…you will not regret it!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Loving All Things Autumn...Especially Fall Fashion over 50

It's that time of year when I can drive home at dusk, and appreciate the glow of light in the windows of homes.  The peaceful time as dark comes early...a warm meal...and candles glowing embody the word "cozy."

The textures and rich colors of this time of year are reasons why it is my favorite time for fashion.

Perhaps, my heart longs for a colder climate than where I am...but I know the season is far too short in South Texas.

I really like this burgundy top from Jones of New York, I picked up recently at Marshalls for just $16.  I fun fall fashion look. #marshallssurprise

These PONTE KNIT LEGGINGS are from JJill....I know I wear them often...but this time of year, they feel great!  They wash and wear so well.

Autumn makes me smile...I hope you keep smiling as well!

Chico's Leopard Jacket: Perfect Fashion over 50

For the past three autumn seasons, I have wanted a leopard jacket/coat.  I have tried on so many and returned at least two ordered online.  Finally, Chico's has answered my call....
This one is the right fit and length...exactly what I have wanted for so long.  It is heavier and perfect for colder weather.  I love to wear leopard with reds, browns, and blacks...it is very versatile for a print.  I have even heard some in the fashion industry call it a neutral.

But, for me...it is exactly what I have wanted to add to my wardrobe...especially for work attire.  Thanks Chicos!!  Make sure you are a Passport Member and on the email list for Chicos in order to receive opportunities for savings!  Trust me...it is worth it!
Disclaimer:  I received this garment from Chico's but the words and the styling are my own.

You will Love this Jacket!
