This was taken in 2013 and was my last photo shoot with Coldwater Creek...a retailer I supported and was sad to see go.  Please join me to day on MIDLIFE BOULEVARD and give your thoughts on how retailers can keep and earn your loyalty.  They want and need to know.

I hope you will share the post in

Would You Wear It?

It has been awhile since I asked the question...this is when I post a look found locally on a mannequin and ask you what you think.

But it really means more if you explain your answer as to why or why not you liked this style.

So, I ask you...WOULD YOU WEAR IT?

Have a relaxing, fun Saturday!

Work Wear for Women Over 50: More Inspiration from Entertainment

It's been quite a week in my career reinvention...a week of cheese trays, champagne toasts, french toast, and coffees.  I enjoy the networking...as long as I can control my eating...and I really enjoy watching what other women wear.

I always get ideas watching women around me...it is one of my favorite sources for inspiration.
I could've taken many many pictures, but shared only a few here.  For one of the functions, I wore an IC COLLECTION print jacket I purchased on sale at DILLARDS.  It's a brand I really like.

It is definitely a challenge to dress professional every day...but I am finding so much inspiration and ideas around me.

Where did you discover inspiration this week?

Happy Friday, all!

Zenni Optical Celebrates Female Leaders and A Giveaway

A Sponsored Post

ZENNI OPTICAL asked me to honor a female leader,,,a strong woman...an intelligent woman...someone I admired for all she does and the difference she is making.  I immediately thought of my daughter, Jessica.
She graduated from Baylor with top honors in political science and worked for three years in Texas State government.  During that time she met her husband-to-be, Russell, also working in the government.  They shared a desire to serve others and experience adventure.

Now, she is overseeing a home and two beautiful little boys...plus lives in Saipan and works for the University of Hawaii on a government program to promote healthy eating in the island restaurants. She makes a difference in the lives of family, friends, and co-workers wherever she goes. I am so proud of her, and grateful for an opportunity to say so.

Women leaders are everywhere. They see the big picture for success – for themselves or others – and have the courage and strength to get the job done. ZENNI OPTICAL recognizes the positive impact these women make in all our lives and would like to honor their strength through the gift of stylish and affordable eyewear so that everyone can see and appreciate these achievements and talents clearly.

ZENNI pioneered the online prescription eyewear business in 2003 to help people find fashionable glasses and sunglasses for every occasion for $50 or less – which includes single-vision prescription lenses.

With its curated collections and literally thousands of frames, Zenni offers the most options for affordable premium prescription eyewear for women, men and kids.  I really like my new shades from them.  Now, one of you can win a pair of their select eyewear with a value of up to $150.  Winner will be picked next week.

Enter to win and be sure and tell us which woman has influenced you the most!

Tea Time...Special Touches for Special People

On Monday, I mentioned attending a graduation celebration last weekend.  It was such an honor to be there, for the graduate selected only 12 women to attend a wonderful dinner in her honor.

We were served an amazing four course meal, and a little after 4:00 PM, tea and scones were served...this was my beautiful cup from the grandmother's collection.

The brand was the house tea from THE DORCHESTER in London.  They began afternoon tea in The Promenade in 1931, and now boast of many awards and are known for celebrating the best of British heritage.

I also want to add...and, please, do not shoot the messenger, but the dress code for tea at the Dorchester is called smart casual.  You are NOT ALLOWED to wear baseball caps, beanie hats, sportswear, trainers, flipflops, shorts....or ripped jeans! (Thank you!)
The tea was fabulous...the best I have ever tasted...and I have tried many teas. This one is a fruity black tea with vanilla and caramel flavors and a hint of lemon...medium body.  The flavor was created in honor to Paris.
I was so excited I could order the Paris tea on Amazon...and I promptly did....including a couple of extras to use for gifts.   The information is below.  I also am going to practice making scones.  I am so ready to have a group of family or friends over and serve this tea.  It was such an honor and a special moment.  I highly recommend bringing a little bit of the Dorchester home!

Enjoy Your Tea Time!

Style Sweet Spot: Graduation Wear for Women Over 50

Welcome to a fun collaboration with Jennifer of A Well Styled Life and Pam of over50feeling40.  We desire for all of us… the fabulous women over 50 …to look and feel our best each and every day.  After years of blogging for this audience, we have heard from so many of you about your discouragement and despondency when you look in the mirror every morning.  But, we both know just how transformative style can be, and hope to encourage you right here each week.  We want to see all of us empowered with strength, joy, and confidence.

It's that time of year again...graduations from all schools...with weddings on the horizon!  For graduation and graduation parties, I personally like to wear a dress.

Parties and ceremonies may be outdoor or inside and a dress will work for either situation.

Also, I stay cooler in a dress and this time of year, there may be heat involved...depending on the time of day.

Also a dress can be taken up a notch if you need to or taken down a notch...depending on the venue. Use select accessories for both.
Some of the ceremonies can be very long so comfort is a must...no matter the selection you make.
But, dresses for spring and summer are colorful and fun... enjoy a seasonal selection for celebrating!

This JODE DRESS DESIGNED BY COMFY USA from Artful Home is colorful, cool, and comfortable.  In June, you can buy it for 15% off!  Also, they have many fun selections in the SALE category now.

I love it with this super cool, unique MARION NECKLACE.  So much fun...a true statement piece...I strive to have pieces like this in my wardrobe!  It is designed by artist Kathleen Nowak Tucci.

And, last but not least, the stunning leather YOSHI BAG  is amazing...so beautiful...I carried my graduate gift and purse items in it.

ARTFUL HOME has the June sale coming up soon, with 15% off EVERYTHING on the site.... and before that, many items will be moved to SALE...so keep an eye on things you love!

As I have said before, dresses are great for just about any situation and will keep us cool and looking confident over the summer.  Of course, I put on a touch of tinted lotion on the legs before wearing the dress!  You can find beauty at any price point for graduations and weddings ahead.

Now let's go see what JENNIFER OF A WELL STYLED LIFE  is wearing for graduations.

What do you like to wear to a graduation party or ceremony?

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Disclaimer:  I was given items from Artful Home but the words are my own.

Work Wear for Women Over 50: All About Foundations

I thoroughly enjoyed our Blab discussion last Sunday on the power of neutrals with SUSAN OF UNE FEMME  and JENNIFER OF A WELL STYLED LIFE. You can listen to the broadcast HERE.

My work wardrobe really functions on a foundation of neutrals.  I love neutral separates because they stretch the wardrobe and open so many possibilities. I try to select the night before what I am going to wear the next day...just keeps the morning more organized and on time.  I have this pencil skirt in three neutrals...and, good news, they are on sale PONTE KNIT PENCIL SKIRT BY JJILL.

Creative accessories and statement pieces will help to make a neutral wardrobe fun.

This necklace from CHICO'S and the Eileen Fisher jacket from DILLARDS were both purchased on sale.  I found the jacket on deep clearance out of season and it is just what I need now as things heat up...it is so lightweight...and worth the wait to wear.

News Flash...These TOTAL MOTION POINTED TOE SUEDE FLATS are on sale!  I love how chic and comfortable they are for work.  Highly recommend this new technology comfort collection at ROCKPORT.

Because they are separates and neutral based, I will mix them up other ways soon!

Have a relaxing weekend! Keep Smiling!

Career Reinvention Over 60: The Ups and Downs + #OOTD Fun

Something I love about my new job is I do not have to look the same every day.  Some days I can wear an outfit like the one above when I am working in house or conducting certain types of interviews.  Other days, I need a more professional style for business meetings or presentations.

I always need a hopeful, humble attitude though.  Last Thursday, I wrote about starting over with humility.  On that same day, I was sent to a luncheon for a business women’s organization to assist with social media during the event. They put together an excellent panel discussion on entrepreneurship.

During the actual program, I bent down low and went forward to get a shot of the panel for Instagram and Twitter.  Wouldn’t you know it…my foot caught on a chair moving back to my seat and I wiped out in front of everyone!! Several thought I passed out and one was calling 911 until she heard me laughing.

There are days I wish I was invisible…that was one of them.  Of course, a cute, young social media maven in high heels came right after me to also take her photos, and did it with grace and panache!  My family is still laughing.  Just re-telling it makes me want to throw up.  It was an I FEEL OLD MOMENT.  But, I know it can happen to anyone…just ask singer and 22 year old Meaghan Trainor who fell recently on the Tonight Show during a performance.  I guess we have more in common than I wrote about on Tuesday...bless her heart.

But, laughing at myself was the best way to handle it.  I was wearing a fun outfit though…always go down in style.   The one above was a Friday look working in the office.  I love it and feel very confident in it.  All the pieces have been in my closet for a long time…but just recently met each other in one look.  I think next fall I will repeat this with my faux leather leggings.

My experience is you have to work a little harder on confidence when over 60…but I still have it and am hopeful I am charting a new course with a smile.

I am also stepping out of my comfort zone with a new lip color...RED!

I was given this sample of TOM FORD LIP COLOR MATTE at a Beauty Event at Saks Fifth Avenue months ago.  It sat in my makeup case for a long, long time and finally last week, I decided to try it.

Love the color, and this brand goes on like butter and stays there.

And I will now wear red more often!

Hepatitis C: Baby Boomers Must Heed the Warning

Sponsored Post

#ad #HepC #VN
This is Hepatitis Awareness Month, and something I learned recently gave me concern for my generation. Three to five million baby boomers have HEPATITIS C, yet most are not aware of it.  Since Hepatitis C can lead to liver disease, liver cancer, and death, this new information made me think.
More than 75% of people born between 1945-1965 have been infected and since they may not know it, Quest Diagnostics has launched a digital campaign to build awareness and hopefully inspire more to get tested.  Many boomers are believed to have become infected in the 1970s and 1980s when rates of Hepatitis C were the highest.  Since people with it can live for decades without symptoms, many are unknowingly living with the infection they received many years ago.

Hepatitis C is primarily spread through contact with blood from an infected person; yet, some may have been infected by coming in contact with contaminated blood or blood products before wide screening of the blood supply began to take place in 1992. However, it is not completely understood why the percentages are so high with this generation.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) encourages all baby boomers to be tested and talk to their doctors immediately.  If it is treated in time, Hepatitis C is curable. However, if it is allowed to go untreated it can lead to a potentially life threatening liver disease.

The sobering fact is that Baby Boomers are 5X more likely to have Hepatitis C.

Start by watching the video below, then make a call to your doctor about getting tested for HEP C, and LEARN MORE .  Thursday, May 19, is Hep C National Testing Day...sounds like a good time to make that call!

I am participating in a VIN campaign for Quest Diagnostics. I am receiving a fee for posting; however, the opinions expressed in this post are my own. I am in no way affiliated with Quest Diagnostics and do not earn a commission or percent of sales.

Hit Your Style Sweet Spot: Cruisewear, Travelers, Chicos for Women Over 50

Welcome to a fun collaboration with Jennifer of A Well Styled Life and Pam of over50feeling40.  We desire for all of us… the fabulous women over 50 …to look and feel our best each and every day.  After years of blogging for this audience, we have heard from so many of you about your discouragement and despondency when you look in the mirror every morning.  But, we both know just how transformative style can be, and hope to encourage you right here each week.  We want to see all of us empowered with strength, joy, and confidence.

When a couple of readers asked Jennifer and I to discuss what women over 50 should wear on a cruise, we knew it was a perfect time to collaborate with CHICO'S…since they are known for gorgeous cruise wear!

I have been a customer of Chico’s, off and on, for over 30 years!  And the best advice I can offer for a cruise is their TRAVELER'S COLLECTION.  My wardrobe is founded on garments from Traveler’s.  I believe I have the tanks in most every color.  This line takes all abuse…and always looks great.  Their pieces last over time and I can give testimony of that first hand.  I am still occasionally wearing the first blouse I ever purchased there.

Also, make sure you join their Passport Club (if you have not already).  It cost nothing to join, but always gives extra money off and free shipping.  Once you are in the system, ordering and even returns are so easy.
Now, back to the cruise.  There are plenty of styles in Traveler’s for all types of situations on a cruise. They do not wrinkle…dry quickly if you happen to get wet…and can be mixed and matched for many different looks.   Chico’s sent the outfit I am wearing for an evening dinner…hopefully with the captain!

Isn't this coral reef necklace a true statement piece and just perfect for a cruise?  How much fun is that? It is called the GIANNI BIB NECKLACE  (I would also pack an older Chico’s necklace I own which has a beautiful turquoise starfish on it!)   I love the sleeves on the BURNOUT PALM JACKET which takes this to an elevated look for evening…and no worries, black is appropriate any time of year. The top of this outfit would also look nice with a skirt.

Now, I usually wear a size 3 in Traveler’s garments, but these NO TUMMY TRAVELERS PANTS run a little large, so you might go down a size when ordering.  But, the pants are great and wearable for many situations throughout the year.  If I were leaving on a cruise tomorrow though, my entire suitcase would be TRAVELER'S FROM CHICO'S.  It is perfect for travel for so many reasons.  It means I would actually pack less and smaller since these garments will roll up nicely and not wrinkle.  The line includes dresses, skirts, shorts of all lengths, crop pants, long pants, blouses, tunics, colors, prints...all you need to cruise in style! And I love the variety of lengths for women over 50 who might like a longer short or arms covered!
Check out the new collection HERE…and thanks goes to Chico's for sending the clothing and making sure we all look amazing on a cruise!

Now, let's go see what JENNIFER OF A WELL STYLED LIFE has to say about cruise wear.

Hope your week is beautiful!
