Hit Your Style Sweet Spot: Another Fall Trend for Women Over 50 and A Link Up
Welcome to a fun collaboration with Jennifer of A Well Styled Life and Pam of over50feeling40. We desire for all of us… the fabulous women over 50 …to look and feel our best each and every day. After years of blogging for this audience, we have heard from so many of you about your discouragement and despondency when you look in the mirror every morning. But, we both know just how transformative style can be, and hope to encourage you right here each week. We want to see all of us empowered with strength, joy, and confidence
Fall is finally here! I am so excited to wear different clothing and have new fun. When I began the blog ten years ago, it was clear most of you wanted to discuss fashion more than anything. So I became a student of the industry…reading many books and even taking an online course in fashion merchandising. There were alot of terms I did not know at that time, so I believe some of you may be in the same position. Today’s fall trend is called “mixed media.”
Mixed media garments are ones which mix different textures, materials, and details in one piece. Textures are found visually or in the feel of fabric.
I purchased this mixed media jacket this past summer on sale at CHICO’S and I really like it. However, I do want share with you a couple of things I learned when first styling it…
Overall, remember LESS IS MORE.
Mixed media has so much going on, it would be easy to over accessorize. So just let the statement garment speak alone.
Also, one of the fabrics here is a faux leather…and, it really does not look good with the same on the bottom in a skirt or pant…too much of a good thing!
However, I love it with this skirt and then with black denim for a fun time out. Sure it is a trend, but one that stays around and works really well…it is also a fun trend.
Now, this week’s collaboration with JENNIFER OF A WELL STYLED LIFE is so much fun. I want you to go to her SITE and see what she is modeling for a fall trend. But, on either of our blogs you can join in if you are another blogger. Just link in and show us how you are hitting your style sweet spot lately…we would love to see!

Great combination of fabrics. I too am an advocate of "less is more"- especially when my figure errs on the more side.
I hear you Elizabeth! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful week.
That is one gorgeous jacket, Pam! I bet you'll enjoy it many times this Fall. Thanks for linking, xo

That's a beautiful jacket…..but I LOVE those shoes?! What brand are they? So happy for fall, too. I can't wait to start wearing sweaters and boots again.
Thanks Patti! Hope you have a wonderful week!
Thanks for the kind words, Rosemary!
The shoes are a brand called Bernie Mev…very comfortable and with a little heel… I found them last year at Stein Mart. I have seen them online other places. Thanks Claudia!
(((whispers))) and those shoes too. Where did you get those shoes??
Mixed media- thank you for this tip Pam. I would love to go learn like you did. The jacket looks fabulous x

I bought them last year at Stein Mart…they are by Bernie Mev and I have seen the brand other places on line…VERY comfortable with a nice heel on them. Thanks Carla!
Thank you so much…and thanks for joining in with our link up!
Good advice on not overdoing with a statement garment. Yes the mixed media, pleather, lace and zippers is enough going on at once.
I added one accessory, looked in the mirror, and said NOPE It was just too much. I love the jacket as it stands alone!
Stunning jacket. I love the lace. This jacket is great with a skirt, but like you suggested – it would look very chic with black jeans.
That's a fabulous jacket! The lace and faux leather sections make a real impact. Love it 🙂

We both love black and leather, Pam! It is so versatile – whether it is real or faux leather and I wear it a lot during the colder season. I love a style mix and think it is a great idea to pair it with denim.

Yes, it is and I love to layer on as well, Jodie. But it would not look good with this…the jacket speaks loudly on its own. Thanks for stopping by!
