Hit Your Style Sweet Spot: Dressing for Summer Errands Over 50

Welcome to a fun collaboration with Jennifer of A Well Styled Life and Pam of over50feeling40.  We desire for all of us… the fabulous women over 50 …to look and feel our best each and every day.  After years of blogging for this audience, we have heard from so many of you about your discouragement and despondency when you look in the mirror every morning.  But, we both know just how transformative style can be, and hope to encourage you right here each week.  We want to see all of us empowered with strength, joy, and confidence.

It may be the unofficial start to summer this weekend, but it sure seems official here.  You can smell the fresh cut grass, see tourists tubing down the river, walk the grocery surrounded by carts full of outdoor eating supplies, and enjoy the aromas of chlorine and suntan lotion.  But, of course, I left out...the humidity and heat.

We have not experienced humidity like this in a few years, since we were mostly dry and in a serious drought...but rain and moisture has arrived with that old feel of thick air and a belief it is hotter than the temp gauge is registering.

I have told you before,  I like to look nice when running errands...even in over 90 heat!  I rarely wear shorts any longer...I am just not confident in them.  But, if I do put them on, it is home only.  These METRO CROPPED DENIM LEGGINGS FROM SOFT SURROUNDINGS are perfect for summer...look nice, flattering, and are not heavy at all.
Both tops are CHICO'S purchases from a couple of years ago.  Very lightweight...yet looks nice.  I believe sales people...grocery checkers...all give better service when I take the time to look my best even under the heated circumstances.  Also, if I run into a familiar face...which I often do...I am not ready to crawl behind the counter and hide.  Lightweight kimonos and tops are all around and there is really no excuse for heat to hold you back from a fresh look when out and about.
This fun necklace is by local jewelry designer SUSAN BUTLER, and features her glass blown beads.  Please join me this Wednesday for a very special post featuring Susan and her talents.  You will not want to miss what she has to share with you.  Look for more designs like this one HERE ON HER WEBSITE.

Now, let's go see what JENNIFER OF A WELL STYLED LIFE is wearing to run her errands!  I hope all of you are enjoying a holiday weekend with family, friends. or both!

Happy Celebrations!

  3. Great outfit and necklace Pam. The blue is fab on you!
We're having the same weather you are - humidex in the high 30's c (that's over 100 F) which we usually don't get till July! I had to dig out the rest of my summer clothes real fast LOL. Have a great weekend.

  4. I was so excited to read that you got your leggings from Soft Surroundings. I get their catalog and absolutely love their clothes. Could you tell me if their clothes run true to size? That is the only reason I've held back from ordering from them.
    Thank you.

    1. I love the Metro Leggings, Aimee. They fit more like a pant than a legging. You want them to be a little tight when you first try them on because they do stretch and give. All of the Metro legging offerings...pants, crops, skinny, bootcut are great and in several colors. As of right now, they are easy to return garments to, so you could always order to sizes and return what doesn't work.

  8. That color is really good on you! I can only dream of what 90 degree heat is like here in the Highlands…most of the locals start to melt when we hit 65!

  10. You look fabulous and what a perfect example of how easy it is to stylish no matter the weather or occasion. It all comes down to the choices made when shopping. Stick to what flatters you, color is important, and add details with accessories.

  12. I have always been attracted to blue. There is something really soothing about it and at the same time it feels like one has captured their moment with confidence. I love to design kimono cardigan jackets. I find it has such simple details that look beautiful. Wonderful how it looks on you. I've been inspired! Lovely.
