Hit Your Style Sweet Spot: What Women Over 50 Wear for Valentine’s Day!

Welcome to a new collaboration with Jennifer of A Well Styled Life and Pam of over50feeling40.  We desire for all of us…the grandmothers, the professionals, the retirees, the volunteers… the fabulous women over 50 …to look and feel our best each and every day.  After years of blogging for this audience, we have heard from so many of you about your discouragement and despondency when you look in the mirror every morning.  But, we both know just how transformative style can be and we hope to encourage you with specific, step-by-step guidelines right here every Sunday.  We would like to see all of us empowered with strength, joy, and confidence!
Each Sunday, we will bring to you a scenario we face each week and show you our step-by-step process as we decide what to wear…you will see on our individual blogs how we handle the challenge and seek our personal sweet spot for the day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Even our palm trees in San Antonio are decorated for this special day! We have been celebrating un-seasonably warm weather…it is gorgeous…and eating outside for Valentine’s would even be an option….a romantic picnic would have been fun!

But we elected for an early celebration on Friday and had a lovely evening out.

My best advice for Valentine’s or any special event for your outfit is to remember ….CONFIDENCE IS ATTRACTIVE!

I saw this quote recently, “Always walk in like you deserve to be right where you are!”

This means…confidence with what we are wearing. I am not skinny, or wealthy, or young…but I am confident!  Think about what gives you the most confidence.  I know I model and wear a lot of black, but I feel confident in it. It says what I want it to say.  When I want to be alluring and confident I will usually go for a black pant or skirt outfit.  Now, my decision for this week was to include red…even the trees and cheesecake wore red!  So. I decided to wear my  EILEEN FISHER CARDIGAN FROM DILLARDS.

Actually after teaching for several years, I am a little programmed to dress in red for Valentine’s…we always pulled out red or pink on the school day closest to the celebration.

When I go out with my husband, I always wear jewelry he purchased for me…that is the case here with the necklaces, watch, bracelet, and rings.

REMEMBER: It is easy to smile when feeling confident.

And I selected a hose with a touch of pattern.

Our Valentine’s dinner was wonderful…and I hope yours is as well…walk in that room with your head held high and confident!

Now, let’s go see what JENNIFER OF A WELL STYLED LIFE is wearing for her celebration…and tell us what you will be wearing.

  1. I really like this look. I am a huge fan of red and black, and the patterned tights add such a stylish touch. This looks classy and I too would feel wonderful wearing it. It really does give you a boost of confidence when you feel great in what you have on.

  2. Thanks Karen! I think red and black was my favorite combo for the cooler weather this year. I want to find a little red for moving into spring. Thanks for the encouragement! Happy Valentine's Day!

  3. I love red for garments. And you can never go wrong with Eileen Fisher. I know now. Bought some stuff when I was in Vancouver. They don't sell it (yet?) in The Netherlands.
    Happy Valentines Day.

  4. You look beautiful! Love the cardi and those patterned tights. I would never have thought of patterned, but they are the perfect touch of pattern and texture!

  5. You look great. Too funny that you were trained to wear the red for school because a friend of mine retired this year but subs and she was hoping to sub, (Grade School) last Friday because she has her red sweaters.
