Hit Your Style Sweet Spot: A Quiet Over 50 New Year’s Eve

Welcome to a new collaboration with Jennifer of A Well Styled Life and Pam of over50feeling40.  We desire for all of us…the grandmothers, the professionals, the retirees, the volunteers… the fabulous women over 50 …to look and feel our best each and every day.  After years of blogging for this audience, we have heard from so many of you about your discouragement and despondency when you look in the mirror every morning.  But, we both know just how transformative style can be and we hope to encourage you with specific, step-by-step guidelines right here every Sunday.  We would like to see all of us empowered with strength, joy, and confidence!
Each Sunday, we will bring to you a scenario we face each week and show you our step-by-step process as we decide what to wear…you will see on our individual blogs how we handle the challenge and seek our personal sweet spot for the day!

How are your holidays going?  I hope they have been special so far…now it is time to begin discussing all things 2016!  It has been a few years since we went out to a rockin’ New Year’s Eve celebration, but we do have invitations for the weekend…not for fancy parties, but nice dinners…

MY OLD THINKING:  New Year’s Eve formally was a time I believed you had the license to go crazy with fashion…glitter…sparkle…tulle…and all things party wear.  And, of course…we do have that license if we want it to go out on a bedazzled limb…

NEW THINKING:  I no longer want to walk that walk. I think more about what I say with my clothing choices and I understand more than ever, what fits “me”…my personality and lifestyle fused.  Confidence is the key to looking younger in our clothes…not necessarily sparkle!  If you normally go with lot’s of shine, try a more subdued look this year and see what you think.  Or, just keep the sparkle under control…less is always more.

My husband purchased this jacket for me last week at MELVIN ROSE BOUTIQUE IN BOERNE(see yesterday’s post).  The brand is Chalet, one I really like typically found in boutiques.  I like the sleek, simple style…buttoned in front or not.

The touch of fun here are my SOFT SURROUNDINGS faux leather pants…something I would wear out for a fun evening and to take a simple look up a notch… but not for a business setting.  Remember, this is a great time of year for the end-of-season clearance sales!  That is where I found the pants.  I had my eye on them all fall, but so glad I waited for the SALE!
For Christmas Eve, I was in a pencil skirt, sheer black hose, and a statement necklace…a bit fancier than this, but I feel great in both.
My versions of understated chic…

The pearl necklaces were also a Christmas gift from Mr. B…he did great this year!

These gorgeous, comfortable leather flats are from ROCKPORT and are perfect outfit completers!  The above look would also go well with boots if the weather permits.  The last two weeks have been very warm, but I am told this week will plunge into new lows!  I know the beautiful pointed-toe flats are hard to see in the grass, so I made sure you had a better view.

I am flying solo this week…Jennifer has house guests (something I completely understand) and will return next week!  Have a wonderful holiday week!

And lot’s of laughs!  Enjoy!
