Before Your Date Night Tonight…Know About URISTAT

Let’s just lay it out there…being a woman over fifty has a
variety of aches and pains associated with aging.   The trick is how to manage the pain and live
joyfully.   I can honestly say the most
severe pain I have dealt with off and on over the years is that associated with
urinary tract infections (UTI).  They
never hit at a good time, and so often it is on the weekend.  In fact, over 50% of us around perimenopause and menopause will experience trouble with UTIs.
The problem for me is it always seems to be over a weekend or holiday which makes getting care from a physician
to deal quickly with the pain and discomfort an UTI creates difficult. Then there is the waiting for test results.  Finally, the
creators of Monistat have an answer… Uristat®
About Uristat®

you can seek relief as soon as you begin to experience symptoms and think you
have a UTI with URISTAT® Pain Relief Tablets. URISTAT® Pain Relief Tablets
deliver fast, temporary relief of pain, burning and urgency and frequency of
urination while you wait until you can see your doctor.
• From the makers of MONISTAT®, over-the-counter URISTAT ®
Pain Relief Tablets contain phenazopyridine, HCl, the #1 doctor-recommended
ingredient used to treat UTI pain or discomfort.
. • For more information and for a $1 off coupon for URISTAT

Even better, the The URISTAT® Relief PAK™ includes a test strip to see if you, in fact, have a UTI and this will save some doctor time…though the doctor is still necessary for proper treatment.
How I wish this product had been around years ago.  It is so needed on the market. UTIs hurt…and
hurt significantly, so this is something that might get women through until the
doctor can see them.
Just in case you did not know, here are some ways to avoid
getting a UTI.  But, if you do, make sure
to pick up a The URISTAT® Relief PAK™ at most local drug stores, such as Walgreens, Walmart, Kmart, Rite Aid, Kinney Drugs and drugstore.com…finally there is help!
And that is the best pain relief news I have heard in a long time.
PREVENTING UTIs
1.
Why infections in your urinary tract are not
100% avoidable, there are some tips to help reduce the likelihood of
contracting them.
2.
Hydrate with lots of water throughout the day and
particularly prior to a romantic evening with your significant other.
3.
Urinate often throughout the day, and make sure
to wipe properly…front to back. This prevents harmful germs in areas where they
should not be…get my drift!
4.
Some feminine products, such as deodorant sprays,
douches, and powders can cause irritations. Also, the same with some birth
control devices.  Talk to a physician to
understand where your UTIs may be originating.
5.
Cotton panties, ladies, are the best.  They do not allow bacteria to grow in a moist
environment like some synthetic materials do.
6.
Try not to hold it…go has often as needed.
7.
If this is a problem, have some Uristat® on hand
and call the doctor.

Enjoy Your Saturday Evening!

  1. I wish this product was available here. I never can get rid of urinary infections, it seems in may case they're the side affect of drugs that I'm taking for my immune disorder disease…sometimes it feels like such a closed circle…but I do have some tips to share, not that can help immensely but they can help a bit for those with recurrent problems.

    – avoiding sweets and sugar (completely if possible- bacteria feeds on sugar)
    – avoiding spicy or greasy food
    – keeping our legs warm…meaning socks or tights if the day is cold or windy
    – avoiding alcohol completely

  2. I've had a UTI and it was horrible, never in my life had I had one before, but it was the most annoying thing ever!! This sounds like a great help. And the tips are important as well, I had to change some things so I didn't get one again, no way!! Happy Sunday, I hope your day is bliss!! x

  3. Pam,
Love your outfit. It is important to try to drink at least 8 glasses of 8 ounces of water a day and at least one glass of cranberry juice. I have always been prone to UTI's and as a survivor of a cancerous tumor in my right ureter ( the tube that takes the urine from the kidney to the bladder) and as a nurse, good urinary health is important especially as we age as a UTI could lead to Sepsis and all kinds of more serious, even life threatening problems.
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

    Hugs,
    Deb

  4. Pam,
Thanks for the post on UTI's. This is something we ALL experience, but no one want to discuss. By the way, I LOVE the outfit you are wearing here. You really rock it! Angela Muller

  5. UTI's…the bane of existence of all women. I am a nurse practitioner, and used to suffer terribly from weird (read: strange organisms when cultured) UTI's. I always put it down to my job working in a busy ICU and being exposed to weird pathogens that, while they didn't make me unwell per se, liven on me and when introduced into the urinary tract, liked to wreak havoc.

Actually, years later, having switched to a 100% plant-based diet (with the odd helping of fish when I'm on holiday and can't get a decent vegan meal), that has all gone away. There has been some really convincing research done linking the consumption of chicken with UTIs in women…likely due to the antibiotics that the animals are given while being raised. Although in my case, all that this really proves is correlation and not causality per se, it's still worth noting.

Here are what I always like to think of as my golden rules for UTIs:
    1. ALWAYS pee right after sex (yes, I know it's frank, but there it is). No exceptions.
    2. NEVER use antibiotics unnecessarily (for a viral infection, etc), or anything else unless it has been properly prescribed. Emphasis on PROPERLY. Sadly, there are still a lot of clinicians out there that will prescribe antibiotics for people "just in case", or because it is easier than having a frank discussion with an expectant patient about why sometimes, the treatment is to do nothing.
    3. When cleaning your "Southern Hemisphere" – always front to back. Always.
    4. Breathable, cotton underthings. Spanx and workout wear have a lot to answer for.
    5. If you get a UTI, deal with it quickly, as it can lead to a systemic infection if it gets out of control. Doubly true if you're immunosuppressed or very elderly.
    6. If you use Uristat (which is a great product), be aware that it will probably turn your urine a funny orange color.

This is a great post….thanks Pam!

  6. You look so thin in that last picture!! Lovely necklace and shirt.
Fortunately I do not have any problems like UTI's, but who knows what is yet to come.
