Photo Shoot?   What photo shoot?  Well, you will just have to wait to find out!  Next Monday, I will reveal the photo shoot and also launch the largest giveaway I have ever done on over50feeling40...you will not want to miss this!  Someone is going to win an amazing prize! Contest begins September 7!

The photo shoot was yesterday for the big event and I decided to wear this outfit...(three of the pieces are old, and the flats are new)....

I like this type of look for work and play!  But, the fabulous clothes I got to wear at the photo shoot....you will not want to miss.

It was such a fun day!

Here is a thought as we begin a new week...a quote I really like...

"Confidence is the ability to feel beautiful without needing someone to tell you, but smiling when someone does."

OF COURSE, IT IS FASHION FLASH MONDAY!

This week, one of my favorite bloggers, Josephine, is the hostess for Fashion Flash.  Check out some great reading here at
CHIC AT ANY AGE!!

The Lazy Last Days of Summer

Labor Day Weekend....thank goodness...after two weeks of teaching high school, I can use the refreshment.  I love the beginning of football and fall...and we have a few rain clouds around.  So, I hope to rest and look through my September magazines.  And, I will read....
This fun book which arrived in a Bergdorf Goodman shopping bag!

The press release said, "Betty Halbreich is a true original. Eighty-six-years old and the longtime head of Solutions Personal Shopping service for Bergdorf Goodman, Halbreich is fiesty, funny, and wise.  She is a master of the makeover, but the story of her own transformation is the most amazing of all as told in this memoir."

I will write a review when finished...but if you can't wait, then click on the Amazon link below.  I can't wait to dive in to this!

Happy Saturday, all!!

Jenny Craig: Things Are Looking Up!

I believe it is important for me to be completely honest with you as I journal through this journey with JENNY CRAIG.  I have had many, many years of yo-yo dieting and stress eating.  Some of these very bad habits do not break easily.

Last week, my weight loss was at 12.2 pounds...this week at 12.6 pounds...I was so glad there was no gain!  I knew I had struggled through the week with stress eating.  Once school begins, I am surrounded with cakes, cupcakes, cookies, donuts, specialty breads and more.  It is not a temptation until I have a stressful or just down right bad day...then I turn to my drug of choice .....SUGAR.  Also, on a very fast paced schedule, I eat and run and not look at the menu....that is not good.  So, the potential is there to take this at a faster pace.

My Jenny consultant asked why I thought my progress was minimal?  I already knew the answer.  But, here is the good news:

1. My stress eating is way lower than it use to be.  A whole cookie has become just a bite. (next week's goal is NO BITES!)
2.  My stomach does still bother me when I eat rich foods...that's a good thing and new since I began Jenny.
3.  I made baby progress though I did cheat a little.

Next week, my goal is to stick with my JENNY CRAIG MEAL PLAN...be more aware of the carbs in fruits and veggies I select to supplement....and avoid the teacher's lounge completely (no reason to be in front of temptation).

I am so close to my first big goal that I really want to make it for myself and to inspire others!  I believe I have made great progress in four months, though it is slow,  and I hope to keep it going.

I must remember, when I reach my goals....I SHOP!!

Happy Friday everyone...Three Day Weekend!!

*I was provided a free trial program, and free Jenny’s Cuisine® items. Currently, I purchase their food at a special rate.   However, the opinions and writing are entirely my own.

I MATTER...JUST SAY NO! Plus the Thursday Blog Hop!

From an interview with Viola Davis in MORE Magazine, September 2014

I am not going to share my friend's picture.  However, she does represent huge numbers of mothers, grandmothers, and career women who are attempting to balance their lives every day.  At 58, she was not ready to simply, yet firmly, say NO!  So, what typically happens is the overloaded, stressed out, hit a wall somewhere along the way.   Often the wake-up-call moment is a health crisis screaming inside our heads, we have neglected ourselves in order to please others.

I have met so many amazing women in the past four years who are refusing to draw boundaries, and struggle with saying NO.  They attempt to be superstars at work…problem solvers at home…burden bearers for extended family…school volunteers…leaders at church…need I go on?  All of this leaves behind a bulging schedule, sleep deprivation, fast food  meals, grooming neglect, and joy zapped. Our present day society almost demands us to…Do More, Do More, and Do More!!
All of these ladies have learned to say I MATTER!
Nothing wrong with that… as long as we do more for ourselves as well.

In order to carry the I MATTER sign, we must all learn to say NO.  It often requires a tough skin and courage.   It also requires discernment as to what is truly a priority and what can wait.  I had to learn to understand and respect ME.  In order to serve my family and work with a smile, I needed to allow ME time for good health, exercise, quiet, and fun.  Before my friend above received her wake up call, she worked all day and was nanny to two grandchildren until late at night.  On top of that, there were work travels and family travels.  It just became too much.
Evaluate today:
1.       Are you caring for yourself every day?
2.       Look over your commitments.  Are there one or two areas which need tweaking?
3.       Set your own boundaries, have courage, and make the changes.

I have decided to live life with me on the priority list…life is short…do more for your family by taking care of YOU!

Do you struggle with setting boundaries?  or even with people pleasing?  Let's discuss!

Younique 3-D Fiber Lash Mascara...Truly A Big Deal!

Have you heard the latest mascara?

Bloggers are going crazy for this new product...YOUNIQUE 3-D

FIBER LASH MASCARA!  My daughter also says that all the

moms in her play date group are talking about it!

It is the revolutionary product which goes on like

regular mascara, but gives the appearance of false eyelashes.

I was excited to test it for myself, and was very impressed.  First of

all the presentation is fabulous in this beautiful case... Chic!

Then I learned it involves a three step process...(worth each step):

First, apply your normal mascara (For me, that is BOBBI BROWN)

Second, apply the Younique Transplanting Gel

Third, apply the Younique Natural Fibers to create thickness and

volume.   VIOLA...beautiful lashes!

I am very picky about my eyelashes since I had NONE on my eyes

from ages 5-18....(another story for another day if you do not

already know it.)  I love Younique!  It is easy from application to

removal...though water resistant, the mascara comes off easily...no

rubbing or scrubbing!

I believe if you like your lashes long and sultry, you will love this....just give the product a try HERE and
Kacie will take care of you!  Holiday parties will be on the horizon
soon...think fabulous lashes!

Enjoy and have a happy Wednesday!

I was compensated for this review, but the words and product test results are my own!

Chadwicks Fall Forecast: Leather Blazers...and Fashion Flash!

I like to be prepared!  When those first cool breezes begin to blow this fall, I want my favorite pieces to be ready to wear and not visions floating around my head!

Chadwicks of Boston has made it possible for me to be more than just prepared...but feel down right fabulous with this gorgeous leather jacket.

I really prefer the blazer style of leather jacket to the moto-style because, for me, it is a more slimming cut.  This is a beautiful leather and I wanted to add a cognac-color to my wardrobe.

I am impressed with Chadwicks for their classic, tailored styles...they certainly have some fun pieces online for fall...and I would welcome many of them into my closet!

Check them out HERE and the jacket HERE.  This jacket comes in red, black, cognac, and dark brown.

Jenny Craig: Creating Good Problems!

Progress continues with JENNY CRAIG!!  I have now lost 12 1/2 total pounds!  And, it hasn't been difficult...I haven't felt deprived...I haven't longed constantly for my old favorites (honestly, pizza and nachos really don't sound as good as they once did!)

But, I do have one little problem...and it's a good problem to have...my pants are getting loose!  Oh well...time to go shopping!! Would everyone tell my husband that I MUST do this!!

I did pick up this one pair on clearance recently...I love the fit of NYDJ.

And I love the fit of Jenny Craig with my work schedule...it is a perfect DIET MEAL PLAN for teachers.

So easy to adapt to school!  I really enjoyed the STUFFED PIZZA BITES with a great salad on the side this week!  In fact, I ate more salad this week than when I was on vacation and that really helped.

So far, so good...thanks Jenny!

Thank Goodness It's the Weekend, everyone!

I MATTER After 60 and Beyond....Plus the Thursday Blog Hop!

This week I MATTER is for women 60+….because as far as age, size, nationality, income levels…WE ALL MATTER!  I am now 61 and truly I feel much younger.  I sense there is a movement of women my age who want to celebrate life with their style and beauty!
Enter Patrizia Molechino….a veteran of the fashion industry who worked in Rome as a personal assistant to Valentino.  Patrizia is Italian born and trained at the St. Martin’s School of Art.  I first met her through Josephine, who blogs at CHIC AT ANY AGE..

Patrizia penned Fashion, Style, and Elegance in Women Over 60 as an e-book.  I just read it on my iPad and thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of women who are not just inspirational for their style, but also for their occupations even over 60.  I enjoyed the beauty of each wrinkle and the stories these faces tell.  They are all living life to it’s fullest.

She addresses many of the questions on the minds of older women
Should we wear a mini-skirt? (You might be surprised by the answer)
Should we continue to dye our hair?
How do we develop Personal Style?
How to put outfits together?

These are just a few of the discussions among the 26 chapters.  The book is available through iTunes, HERE, and soon will be available for Kindle through Amazon.

Patizia would like to publish updated versions featuring real women.  If you would like to be featured in her book, then send your photo plus information to patrizia.molechino@gmail.com.  Her fashion blog, HERE, the Oracle on Buying, was created in 2009 and has been published by 360fashion ever since.  She currently lives in France.

I love a book which reminds the thousands of Baby Boomer women to carry the sign....I MATTER!!  You can read all of the I MATTER posts HERE.

Fall 2014 Trend: Gray Matters!

I find myself more each day loving the neutral color gray.   So, I was thrilled to hear that it is the go to neutral for fall fashion!

You would think teaching in a gray room, I would tire of it.  But, I haven't ....I still really love the color.

These are my slate gray pants by EILEEN FISHER I bought this summer at Dillards.

Gray is such a soft, pretty neutral and goes so well with brown, gold, bronze, black, purple, navy and even pink...

For some ideas, go to VIVIENNE FILES...Janice shows us today of how gray works with brown, navy and green!

The models are from the Neiman Marcus Fall Fashion Preview...a store where shades of gray are everywhere!

What is your favorite gray combination?

Have a fabulous Wednesday!

Depression, Wardrobes, Fashion...how do they all relate?

Some women believe dressing stylish and fixing up each day can help us feel our best...some believe that alone piles on unnecessary pressure...some believe all of the fashion industry feeds on our fears...others believe there are some in fashion with good intentions to help....others rush to get the Fall Fashion magazine mega-issues...others would love to burn them in defiance as if burning a bra...

I discuss all of this on MIDLIFE BOULEVARD today...including the role your dress plays in escaping despondency!  Wow, that's a lot...join us in

Then, have a wonderful Tuesday!

A Pop of Summer! Celebrating Color! And Fashion Flash!

It is hot in South Texas!  Yesterday's heat index was 105...so no doubt, we still have summer to deal with though school has begun.
This is what I wore for the first day of teaching high school.  I have started my 15th year as a teacher, so I thought it deserved a few pops of color for celebration!
Living in San Antonio, we love our color!  A color explosion floods the senses everywhere you go.
The first time I wore this CHICO'S jacket on the blog, I styled the look with bronze ballet flats, and a simple gold necklace.  But today, I wore these STEVE MADDEN (BOUGHT AT MARSHALLS) cork flats with orange tips...then added the beautiful beaded necklace my husband brought me from Alaska.

This is my way of beginning a slight transition out of my flip flops toward a more professional summer look for the classroom.  Pretty soon my bright orange will turn to burnt orange and my red will turn crimson as I begin to transition to fall...too hot to think about that today!
I am joining in today with the amazing Sacramento from Spain and other stylish bloggers to show off our summer style.  Check them out HERE!!  and MONDAY MINGLE!

Sharing on VISIBLE MONDAY!!

What are your favorite looks as we come to the end of summer?

AND NOW IT'S TIME FOR:
The fabulous Jodell at BLACK CAT PLUS is hosting Fashion Flash this week.  Jodell brings inspiration to all of us stylish plus sized ladies!  Please go HERE to read fashion and beauty information from the bloggers of Fashion Flash!!

Have a happy Monday!!

Foxcroft Blesses Teachers for Second Year!

I love an organization that blesses teachers!  Of course, because I am one; but, mainly because the teachers I work with have taught me how long, hard, and exhausting teaching can be.  They are heroes to so many,

So, I wanted to thank FOXCROFT COLLECTION for all they do to encourage and inspire teachers in New York.  FOXCROFT has collaborated this year with L'Appartment Prive Salon in Manhattan to provide makeovers to twenty teachers from P.S. 31 in Brooklyn. They are transformed into Foxcroft Style Stars!  This is the second year for the Style Stars event, and the first year to be joined by L'Appartment Prive Salon!  OOO, wish I was there!

Janet Zukowski, who has taught at P.S. 31 for over 30 years, said the day was “magical.” Zukowski continued, “We felt appreciated and were treated royally. I think it was a once in a lifetime kind of event.”
“It was nice to be pampered and recognized for the work that we do in a totally different way,” LouAnn Gallo, who has taught at P.S. 31 for 15 years, said. “It was a really positive experience.”

Don't they look fabulous!  Thank you to all who blessed these women.  For everyone else, I encourage you to thank a teacher today!

Then if you would like to save 20% on the teacher's favorite looks, you do so through August 20 right HERE - TEACHER'S FAVORITE LOOKS!

Speaking of back-to-school, I will be speaking at Goodwill this afternoon about how to transition your look from summer to the school room if you are a teacher or a parent.  The press release is below...but I hope you will come by and say hello!
