Goodwill: Where do I Start?

Whenever I enter my local GOODWILL locations, I always begin the same way...

First, I check Julia's Attic...the top fashion selections....
Second, I check my favorite clothing racks and accessories....
Third, I never leave without looking over home decor!

Recently, I stopped by with the desire to do some closet organizing and my eye immediately went to this cool box decorated in a Burberry-type design!  It now holds my bracelets and looks much nicer than the ugly plastic box where they previously lived.

There are many things in my home from Goodwill.  This post features some of my favorites!

Saturday is a great day to go by the  Goodwill locations all over the country and see what treasures you can uncover!  Remember, they return a lot to the local communities in education, vocation, and military support!

Jenny Craig: Success One Bite at a Time!

Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan.
-Tom Landry

During my youth at home, Sundays in autumn were pretty much the same…

Go to church….shrink down in the pew when my father snored during the sermon…
Go home and eat a big lunch…usually beef or fried chicken, potatoes and beans…
Experience a family argument on some level…always at the dining table.
Go to my room and put on my Dallas Cowboys football jersey…
Then watch the game with my family.

When Tom Landry spoke, I listened.  His quote above still rings true.   I have set all kinds of weight loss goals.  But, consistency is the key.  So far, two weeks on the JENNY CRAIG  meal plan and I have lost 3.3 pounds!  I know enough to know that if I stick with this and remain consistent, I will achieve the success I desire.  But like all programs, there are “off” days.  I had one of those last week.

In the past week, I was in attendance at one luncheon featuring Southern cooking, one hamburger joint luncheon, one fabulous wedding, and one fish fry.  I sat with a glass of ice tea at every event but one.  Can you guess which one?  Well, it wasn’t the fabulous wedding…though I did have to taste the cake.  The meal I gave in to was the fish fry with roasted vegetables.  It was amazing!  My husband’s fresh catch from the Gulf of Mexico.

And despite that…I still lost 1.3 pounds for the week.(total to date, 3.3).  I got up the next morning and went right back to the Jenny Craig meal plan!

So, this is my plan.  When I fall down, get back up again and stay on the plan! The past week I actually had Key Lime Pie and a Red Velvet Cupcake, both by Jenny…pretty close to that wedding cake!

I just know Tom would be proud!

Have a Fabulous Friday!

*I was provided a free trial program, and free Jenny’s Cuisine® items.  However, the opinions and writing are entirely my own.
Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lose 1-2 lbs per week.

I MATTER, SO I TAKE TIME...and The Thursday Blog Hop!

Meet Eileen!  Like me, she has a passion for fashion!  Her former life included her role as a buyer and working fashion retail's long hours.  Her current life includes being a wife, mom, mother-in-law to my son, and working when she wants as a substitute teacher.  But, she still includes one day a week in fashion retail, so that she can keep an employee discount to look her very best.

Eileen understands we must make certain there is time for us!  For some, that takes real effort.  We are convinced there is no time in the day to focus on #1.

Once we force ourselves to care for ourselves, we can experience more joy and less bitterness about serving others....whether it is serving our families, our jobs, or both!

On a busy day, Eileen saw a sign "BOUTIQUE CLOSING...EVERYTHING MUST GO!"  She took just a few minutes to pop in and walked out with this gorgeous jacket for only $12!  Worth the time I would say!

Taking just a few minutes for YOU does not have to be shopping...it can be
1. Sitting quietly with a cup of coffee
2. A manicure or pedicure
3. A foot soak at home
4. A moment to sit with a drink in a book store or coffee shop and peruse the latest reading materials
5. Gym time!
6. A neighborhood walk
7. Psst...I have even gone to a matinee alone!

I am certain you can add to this list...just make sure you do it!  Have a great week everyone.  If you would like to read the past I MATTER posts, just click HERE!

Wedding Reception in the Art Museum...Exquisite!

As I promised on Sunday, here are my favorite images from a unique wedding reception over the weekend at the wonderful MCNAY ART INSTITUTE in San Antonio, Texas.
My oldest son's childhood friend was married, so this was a time to re-connect with some old friends not seen in a while and to enjoy the talents of artists from Chagall to Van Gogh.
This is predominately a photography post.  So I hope you enjoy the fashions, the beauty, and the decor.  You will see there is one green dress I loved and followed!

Actually, the mother-of-the-bride is wearing the green.

A few modeled their finest.  If you missed what I wore, click HERE!

Simply stunning event!
My husband made a friend!

Happy Wednesday!

Evening at the Museum...Worthy of Two Posts And Fashion Flash Monday!

Saturday evening we attended a fabulous, beautiful wedding reception.  The wedding, itself,  was in one of San Antonio's oldest, historic churches downtown, TRAVIS PARK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.  However, it was the reception at the MCNAY ART MUSEUM which pleased everyone in attendance.

Today's post is about what I wore to the event...Wednesday's post will include pictures of the reception, the museum, and fashions worn by others.  I hope you can join me for both.
Recently, I was the featured speaker at a local CHICO'S event and everyone in attendance received a special discount for the evening.  So, I went home with this lightweight, sparkly duster and gorgeous necklace!!  I felt very appropriate for the evening.

This vintage beaded bag was given to me by my mother-in-law years ago...and I really like it when I am going to be taking pictures because it hangs on my arm.

A clutch, often times, is difficult to navigate when I want to be madly snapping the camera! This bag was perfect!

My legs were just too white at this early stage of summer to go without nylons.  It was a fabulous evening...please join me on Wednesday for the rest of the story!
Linking up with MONDAY MINGLE!
