I MATTER Moments Worth Celebrating...Plus the Blog Hop!!

“How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?”
My husband recently called me with this question.  He had just finished listening to one of his favorite speakers challenge our thinking about aging and retirement.  In fact, he pretty much said…your real age is found within your thinking.  If I answered this question, honestly I would say I am in my 40s…remember…feeling 40? Right?  I do not feel my age and constantly must remind myself what it is.
Since I turned 50, I have been on a reinvention journey to turn myself around…inside and outside.  I also have been re-fashioning my career.  Four nights ago was a huge milestone for me…I attended San Antonio Fashion Week as a fashion blogger for the first time…sitting on the front row next to the local newspaper’s fashion writer and our local fashion and style film network.

Though I have been to many runway shows in the last four years, this one was a milestone for me.  I am now considered to be a legitimate member of our local Fashion Media and I love it. It is possible to reinvent your life...no matter your age.

When I follow my dreams and pursue my passions, then I am holding up my I MATTER sign.  Blogging has opened many doors for me to be able to do just this.  I love writing for and encouraging women, and I love covering lifestyle, fashion, and style stories.  It is a passion and right now…I am living the dream!  Hopefully, one day soon, I will be able to do something like this 24/7.
Doing what I love does keep me young and joyful.  Participating in a world filled with young adults also keeps me youthful.  Sure, I am usually one of the oldest at the events I cover, but I love the younger fashion bloggers and they seem to respect me (perhaps, they have a good laugh, but I really do not get a sense from them that happens.)  I really believe anything is possible no matter our age.

What is your passion?  Are you doing something to fill that love deep inside of you?  If you did not know your age, how old would you be?

Great questions to ponder and ask ourselves…in order to say…I  MATTER!

  1. Love the quote! I believe it was Satchel Paige who said that (he had some GREAT quotes). I would probably be in my 30's if I didn't know. I don't think I will ever feel my actual age, or necessarily act it! My passions revolve around decorating and being creative. Far, far from what I do for a living. Far. I'm composing my plans for my next act. Karen

  2. Great post! Life is too short not to be passionate about many of the things that fill our time. I am so encouraged that you have found purpose through your passion. Thanks for being so inspiring today. :)

  6. My answer depends on the time of day. I start out about 30 and end at 60. Quite a leap in a mere 16 hours! :) I'm so excited about your obvious acceptance into the fashion world. Well deserved! You go, girl! We're cheering you on from the sidelines!

  7. I felt the same way you did sitting in the front row of Nashville Fashion Week 2014 with my Media pass. I was one of the oldest women there, and the first woman in a wheelchair to ever cover NFW. But I felt like I was 25. Some days my body feels like I'm 80, but I'm just going through a really extended adolescence ;-)
    GOOD FOR YOU, Pam! ;-)

  9. Pam, your blog is always so encouraging to me. Congratulations on your media role at Fashion Week - something like that would be a dream come true for me. I started blogging as a way to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life - and reading about your is such an inspiration!

  12. Yes, I agree, when you are invited as a blogger to a fashion week, you pretty much live my dream. Being in a small country and blogging in English... I don't think that is going to happen to me, but who knows? I might get invited with plane ticket whahahaha.

  13. Pam this is just fabulous and I congratulate you on your determination! You certainly succeeded in inspiring me because I was just feeling a bit de-motivated about blogging. Thats why I love coming back to your blog here. Have a great weekend. Sabina OceanblueStyle
