A reader recently asked me how I do the diet and provide meals for my husband. I actually live with my husband and youngest son who is in college, so there are three.
My answer is....I have hung up the aprons!
Perhaps that seems a bit harsh, but please understand, I have walked this walk for years. I wish I had money for all of the diets I have begun and quit.
I quit because I kept cooking and for me cooking has been how I showed love to my family. It also is something I love, so I tweak...and taste...and season...and taste...and make certain it is perfect in every way.
I failed so often and it usually happened during excuses made to serve the family, so this time I told the two men in my life...YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. Since June, I think I have cooked maybe three times and I was feeling sorry for them. But, you know, they are adults and they have survived. Also, they go out to eat together more often and I really believe it has brought father and son closer.
I need for it to be this way for now. Since I was sick, I have stalled a bit....but I will persevere. For health reasons, I must lose more weight. It is my time...now or never! So, these two guys are fine on their own until I feel like I have reached my goals...a healthy weight and changed habits for good.
Yes, I am going to cook holiday meals...but my goal is to be down by a total of 25 pounds when Thanksgiving gets here....okay, I put it on the record...now we will see if I do it!
