Fall 2014 Trend: Gray Matters!

I find myself more each day loving the neutral color gray.   So, I was thrilled to hear that it is the go to neutral for fall fashion!

You would think teaching in a gray room, I would tire of it.  But, I haven’t ….I still really love the color.

These are my slate gray pants by EILEEN FISHER I bought this summer at Dillards.

Gray is such a soft, pretty neutral and goes so well with brown, gold, bronze, black, purple, navy and even pink…

For some ideas, go to VIVIENNE FILES…Janice shows us today of how gray works with brown, navy and green!

The models are from the Neiman Marcus Fall Fashion Preview…a store where shades of gray are everywhere!

What is your favorite gray combination?

Have a fabulous Wednesday!

  1. I have to say, I never thought of pairing gray with brown! Or any colors in the brown family. That is a new concept for me and I'm not sure. But I do like gray with many other colors, and I do have gray pants and jackets in my fall/winter wardrobe since it is a classic neutral. Being something of a traditionalist, I tend to like it best with plum shades, light blues, and naturally black and also white. I find that I tend to pair gray with softer colors, soft pinks, soft blues. Otherwise it is jarring to my eye and I stand there thinking something just looks off. All this said, I do like the way the soft brown works with gray on the model. I think I would try it for a casual look. If it didn't work for me, I would still be left with two great neutrals to pair with something else!! Karen

  2. I especially like grey with soft, fine fabrics like silk which gives this neutral colour a natural elegant touch. Paired with silver jewellery or pearls I love it for an evening look. Grey and pure white is great for summer and a bit softer than black and white.

Pam, thank you so much for all your lovely comments on my blog. I really appreciate them and thank you for being such a loyal reader!

  3. I love grey paired with brown, burgundy or cognac, but also love just mixing shades of grey in the same outfit. It's such an understated and elegant color, and there's a grey out there that works with every complexion. I'm sure you'll get a lot of wear from those pants.

  4. I'm a big fan of grey…especially the soft grey not the school girl grey I had to wear for so many years 😉
Grey and white I think is very chic…have a lovely day, Pam xx

  5. Grey and camel are a personal favorite of mine. It goes back to an outfit I had in college: grey wool V-neck jumper, camel and grey stripe turtleneck and a camel-hair coat. I wore that outfit to death and should try the combination again. Unusual and reserved, but quite lovely.

  6. Thanks! Fun post and informative. I used to wear a lot of black, but it washes me out now that my skin tone has changed, so I've been migrating my wardrobe over more to grey items for a key neutral. Glad to see the stores will be carrying more of it this fall. Sharing with my tweeple.

  7. I'm happy to see grey and the fall neutral color. I need to clean and organize my closets and pull the greys tones forward.

  8. oooww grey is such a dangerous colour for me. It washes me out. Like camel. Or beige.
Now if we would talk shiny silver shoes…. that is a totally different matter.
