When I MATTER, Strength Is The Result....Plus the Thursday Blog Hop!

Meet Darlene!  She is one of the super professional sales leaders at the Chico’s located in the Village of Stone Oak in San Antonio.  When I arrived at the store for a meeting, Darlene had just experienced a difficult day…but observing her hunt for a new outfit throughout the store brought revelation…her face brightened and her smile glowed.  For a few minutes, Darlene was caring for Darlene.

There is just something about taking time out for #1 which will send dark clouds away…even if it is only a moment.

Now, I will be the first to admit,
A new outfit will not cover unpaid bills.
A new outfit will not heal serious illness.
A new outfit will not fix the broken dishwasher.
A new outfit will not get your child out of detention.
A new outfit will not erase evident wrinkles every day.

However, when we are strong, confident women we handle the trials of life differently than when we walk in defeat.  Taking care of ourselves…inside and outside…making certain we carry the I MATTER sign, is important for how we will face the challenges of life.

It is not shallow or frivolous to care for ourselves….in fact, it is just the opposite….it is necessary!

  1. It does make a difference to take a few minutes to care for oneself; it is important. Blessings dear. Catherine

  2. Pam this really resonated with me today and my post is about the lives of fabulous fictional females and I think you will love it!

    The Windows of Buck House

  3. Thank you for the inspirational post, and for co-hosting this fun party!

  4. After years of trying to please others and thinking that I had to change myself to be OK, I'm old enough to please myself. In the last year I'm finally coming into myself. I'm finally beginning to value the real person that I am. It's a struggle to change but at 68 I'm still able to learn new tricks. It's lovely to see real women learning that lesson at younger ages so they can be their true selves for a longer time.

  5. So true! There is something about feeling confident and looking your best that impacts how you handle the 'stuff' that life throws at you. Karen

  6. Cheers from your newest follower!

  7. I really like the "I Matter" profiles, Pam, thanks for this!

  8. Great post Pam. I know I feel more together and have an easier time dealing with any challenge the days brings if I have taken care of myself ahead of time. XO, Jill

  9. Nutrition and lifestyle play an important part in how we perceive ourselves. Practice Self care every day!
The I Matter series is inspiring.

  10. You are so right! I loved the phrase, "Darlene was caring for Darlene". It's so easy, in caring for everyone else to forget to fill your own vessel! Thank you for this gentle reminder. And for these encouraging, life-affirming 'I Matter' posts!

  11. You really matter to me and I appreciated the weekly reminder that I matter too!

  12. You brought us such a great point Pamela, very well.
Every time I see your "I Matter" signal I think "Probably I also matter" and at least for some time I feel good.
    Thank you!!!!

  13. Thanks for the reminder. There never seems to be time to take care of me. Thanks for hosting!

  14. I love the positive message you always send. :) Thanks for hosting!

  15. The older I get the more I realize just how right you are! Thanks for your weekly reminders, Pam ;-)

  16. Pam, it's so true. If we don't take care of ourselves, and remember that we MATTER, it's tough to summon the strength and dignity we need to meet those challenges that life seems to keep throwing at us. Great reminder!

Thanks so much for joining in our conversation today! I appreciate your time and love hearing from you!
