A Tale of Two Bodies

For the last three years, I have been up and down the scales so often…it has been like living between two bodies…not of land or water…but, literally, two bodies!!
I have spent equal time as
The Size 16, Womens, version of me
The Size 16, Misses, version of me
Sometimes I am a little slow, and it took awhile for me to understand how different the two sizes are…but, they are very different.
Currently, I am inches close to becoming the Misses’ body yet again. The other is currently too large and baggy, but the Misses is still a little tight.
SIGH.…At least this time, I am committed to my physical training program and that is what I have lacked in the past, and that is what gives me hope that I won’t go back again.  So, I will continue to be patient and wait until my current wardrobe no longer works.
But, if I were shopping, here are some items I would love to try on…

This great line of slimming dresses from DRESS BARN.
This gorgeous ponte knit and
leather jacket from TALBOTS.
I need a beautiful navy blazer…
and this wool jacket from
TALBOTS certainly has my
attention!
Just a little reminder, my weight loss program has to do with health,
but I confess, I would like for once in my life to feel like I have
conquered the problem.  This is at the top of my bucket list…to
look and feel my absolute best!
What item would you like to add to your wardrobe
today if you could?
I would love to have coffee with each of you today
and talk clothes…but sense we can’t, we can all talk
here!

Happy Tuesday!!

  1. Pam – congrats on the progress you've made with your fitness program. Much continued success and keep working toward that next fitness goal. This fall I would like to add a pair of slim leg pants in black or charcoal. I have some beautiful Anne Klein reptile flats in black patent leather that I would love to pair with them.

  2. you are inspiring my friend. I'd just like a pair of jeans that fit properly, giggle. So happy you shared this at the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop last week. Hope to see you link up again this week! ♥

  3. Pam you are doing great and no matter what size, your style, panache, and smile bring light to all of us!
Well, I sure love the bag you are carrying above!

  4. I think it's inspiring that you are moving toward your best health. I wish you much success in your journey toward your goals. I like the dresses here, I may go and try one on. I like these designs and the price is right!

  5. Your weight struggle is something most of us can relate too. Congratulations on your success so far.
This fall I'm adding some smoking slippers in velvet (street shoes) and some fresh new black cigarette pants. I have my eye on some cashmere v-necks but haven't seen the colors I want yet. Have a terrific day!

  6. I am right with you in your quest to have a healthy, slimmer and fit body. Although I don't have a trainer, I have discovered an aerobics class and a Zumba class populated with late, middle aged gals, and I love every minute. It is the first time in my life that I have stuck with any fitness endeavor, and the reason is dance. I love to dance! I began to do this for health reasons and discovered joy. In addition, I've gained new friends and
look forward with happiness to each new day. What would I add to my wardrobe? I've promised myself a "designer" (read more expensive than I would usually buy) dress that is gently shaped to the body in a color that isn't black. I have my eye on few.

  7. My problem is that I'm still drawn to the little sweet dresses that look awful on me now- nipped waists and all. Love the leather jacket! Maybe I swing by Talbots- after my workout. Hahaaaaaa

  8. I lost several pounds by doing a few simple things the past few months. I've rid my house of all candies, cookies, pies, etc. Before my lunch and dinner, I eat about a cup of watermelon. It's low cal and fills me up.

  9. I adore Talbot's – I always look for it when thrifting because of the quality. Can't afford them at full price, though. You look beautiful, Pam, and I applaud you for committing to your goal!

  10. I know how you feel. My weight doesn't change by a lot, but there is about 10 pounds that can always vary. And whether if goes up or down makes all the difference in the world. If only changes my clothing size if it goes to one of the extreme ends. But even just a few pounds changes how I feel in my clothes. 5 pounds down and I love how everything looks on me. 5 pounds up, and I can't find anything in my closet to wear.

  11. You are so gorgeous!! Killer leopard scarf! Even though I'm a bit younger I'm having the "tale of two bodies" as well! The pre-baby body and the post-baby body!!

  12. Just want to chime in to wish you all the best for your continuing weight loss and strength training efforts. Successful weight loss is so slow, but you are going about it the right way.

  13. You look great! I just was shopping with my sister at thrift stores in her area, Providence RI and we both bought brands like Talbots, J Jill, Calvin and Jones it was a blast. I actually had to send home a box full that would not fit in my suitcase! All that and I still need a black blazer, no wool. Suggestions?

  14. You look fabulous! I was shopping with my sister at Thrift stores in Providence RI and we bought brands like Talbots, J Jill, Jones, and Calvin. I bought so much I had to send some home in a box because it would not fit in my suitcase! All that and I still need a black blazer, no wool. Any suggestions?

  15. As one who so knows those ups and downs…I get it :0). Since being thrown into medical menopause just over 18 months ago, my hormones have betrayed me to the tune of 25 pounds! I have lost some, but boy losing weight is NOT what is was back when I turned 40. Still…a trainer is great right! I found that kicked me into at least slow gear and not neutral :).
WHAT would I buy??? I have had my eye on a dres similar to the blocked one above. Also…a pencil skirt to go with the boots I found that YES go over my VERY Scottish calves :).
Coffee with you sounds too good to be true. I would ask you a bazillion questions and hope some of your awesomeness would rub off on me…that is a phrase my kids have used so do I sound hip? Probably not since I used the word "hip" :0).
Enjoy your week and hoping those 16's are a perfect fit soon enough!

  16. Those color-blocked dresses are flattering. I recently attended a conference where one of the presenters had on a black and white one. She wasn't plus-sized, but was sporting a bit of a tummy – a hazard of an office job -and the dress panels did a great job of giving her a polished look.

  17. In a perfect world I would live to add a full skirted, full length leather skirt by tibi. Something practical, but yet impractical. If that makes since…
