You Have Lipstick on Your Teeth!

You have already heard me lamenting...OK...whining...about the start of this new school year.  Stress and problems have been a daily serving on my table of multiple responsibilities and last week the delectable meals just kept on coming.  By Thursday, I needed peace and pampering...best found at my nail salon.

In case you missed that post, my nail technician, Ken, is a pedicure master.  I always splurge for the deluxe package, because the massages, exfoliations, and waxing are as critical as the pretty, happy toes!  Before leaving the neighborhood, I stopped to get the mail and received the book, You Have Lipstick on Your Teeth, sent to me for a review.

One of my biggest struggles right now is that my closest friend...the one who told me to start a blog...has moved to the top of the state...and in Texas that might as well be a country away.  The loss of a confidant is the same as losing the middle piece of a puzzle...until the piece is found, the hole is the focus of the picture.  I currently long for the missing piece.

This book brought a bevy of fun girlfriends back into my life for laughter and for tears...and to completely confuse Ken.  He would look over his nail clippers at my occasional chuckles not sure if I was laughing at him or something in the book I held tightly.  But, it is the same as when I am confused at their Korean banter...wondering if I have something between my teeth or didn't shave close enough...now I had my own mystery!

This is a collection of enjoyable essays by talented writers only women will truly appreciate.  Some will make your face turn a little red...or bring back memories...or ring so true...or express feelings we all have desired the courage to speak.  Janie Emaus and Shari Simpson touched my heart with their clever writing styles about the importance of girlfriends at every stage of life.  You will find yourself inwardly begging Janie not to eat at one restaurant again and laughing with Shari while she prays with her partners Aunt Candy and Pickles.  Other essays brought back that "moo cow" feeling and nausea over the renewed awkwardness of early breast development.

Thank you, ladies...for being there when I needed a smile, a warm fuzzy, and girlfriends to complete the puzzle that day.
