Sunglasses...How I Wear Them and A Post Full of Fun!

Welcome to Texas...where we love our heritage, the sun is brutal, and we live in sunglasses!  Today, ADRIENNE and JILL are asking bloggers to share how they wear their sunglasses.  Mine are CARMEN MARC VALVO and I wear them constantly!
I also wanted to discuss this word...authentic.  It has been on my mind since I received the ugly comment (HERE).  Then, one of my favorite bloggers, une femme, wrote an excellent post yesterday about authenticity!  Read it HERE

My first two years as a blogger, I participated in many blogger events where I wore looks that were not ME.  They were styled for the blog.

In the last year, I have really attempted to stick with styles pictured I actually walk out of the house wearing.  It has been refreshing to be more authentic...the blog has actually helped me define who the authentic Pam is.  But, does that make me less fashionable?  I don't think so and I know there are some who would disagree.  Fashionable is often interpreted as "out of our comfort zone" experimentation.
I like my wardrobe to be stylish and wearable all at the same time. I developed a plan to help me do that....and it has really paid off for me!  The FOUNDATIONAL FIVE is what I seriously use when in the dressing room; and after a year, my closet finally reflects the authentic Pam...more so than it ever has.  I am leaving more behind when shopping, and saving time and money.

Finally, today is my posting day for GENERATION FABULOUS...hop on over HERE and read about learning to say NO!

Have a terrific Tuesday all!!

  1. Pam, I've done the same thing! My first couple of years of blogging I tried too hard to be blog worthy and edgy. Take a great picture. But MY style is far more subdued. It's the style I always received compliments on before I started blogging and yet ironically blogging influenced my insecurities rather than my confidence. Now, I'm much more comfortable (again) with my own more minimal approach to personal style. Love your look in these pics!! Hugs!! Serene

  2. I agree with you about being yourself.

  3. Thanks so much for the mention, Pam! I love your sunnies and very Texas look here.

  4. Great post. I had similar jitters when I attended the IFB conference in NYC. It felt like everyone was wearing their most outrageous outfit. I know myself well enough to realize that I would look ridiculous if I tried to dress the same way. I can't help it, my style is a lot more low-key. It just is and always has been and every time I get away from that I feel like I am not being true to myself. I thought when I became a blogger I had to try harder to be fashion-y or something but thank God that's passed and I'm just myself, loving fashion exhibits, meeting other fashion-loving ladies, and teaching myself about fashion history. XO, Jill

  5. Great post, Pam, I always appreciate your honesty and transparency in your writing. And I really like your authentic, casual Southwest look here!

  6. Fabulous as always Pam!! That top is just stunning on you!

  7. Hi Pam,
I can't believe someone was so thoughtless. I have also struggled with being a "fashionista" vs. wearing my own clothes. I chose to wear my own clothes which might not be the latest and greatest trend, but makes me feel good to wear. Great post and thanks for sharing!

  8. I love stage coach type wagons .. they are so cool !

  9. Love the poncho! You look fab! Be true to yourself. My mother and sisters want me to dress "more my age", but I fit into my daughter's clothes and I love them. Do I look ridiculous? Probably. (hee-hee)But I'm me!

  10. Staying authentic is great advice for life, not just style. Thanks for this :)

  11. I have always gone to your blog ESPECIALLY because I love your honesty about where you are in life. I think, like you, that we are a work in progress and that real life and fashion has to find a place to meet so that we feel comfortable in our own skin. I truly enjoy all of your pictures for how they present the journey you are on and how your gentle invitation to come with you at our own pace. Keep at it - you are an amazing lady! And I'm not anonymous--my name is Barbara!

  12. Good for you, Pam! Your authentic self is awesome. :-)

  13. Always enjoy stopping bye your post
You seem so true and good

    Your daughter is lovely

I like espidralles sandals since I was in high school!

    Keep up the wonderful writing!
