Rodeo Wear and BBQ: Texas Style!

When the month of February comes around, most  people
think of Valentine’s Day….but in San Antonio, we think…It’s Time to Rodeo!!

The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo has been voted the best
large arena rodeo for nine years in a row and, I have to say, we are quite
proud of the honor.  I’ve been raised
attending rodeos and a good rodeo has always felt like home!
So, in honor of the rodeo, I am wearing denim on denim.  I do not own any traditional western wear…surprisingly
as proud as I am to be Texan, I do not really like real western wear…I am not a
plaid shirt, big belt buckle kind of girl!  I
prefer to fashion my own.  When we attend
an event, I usually wear my jeans, a white buttoned down shirt, a brown or
leather jacket, boots, and lots of turquoise!!
The hat is Mr. B’s….he will wear it with his jeans and boots.  All of our adult children wear western boots and
have since they first walked.

A great way to get ready for two weeks of rodeo is to go to
Adkins, Texas and eat a little BBQ at Texas Pride.  Since I am watching the carbs, I had to say
no to their amazing Peach Cobbler and bread…but the smoked turkey and beans
were just right. The food is delicious and, of course, where else can you get catering for the oilfield!!  We discovered Texas
Pride years ago when traveling to small towns for Friday Night football
games.  The team on the bus had to drive
right by it…the parents in the cars, just had to make a stop!!

So,  YE HAW, have a
great Monday, everyone!!

  1. We are getting ready for our rodeo, with none other than George Strait kicking things off! If only I could ride off in the sunset with him and your outfit would look perfect on the back of his horse if I could borrow it!!

  2. Wow. I love love horses!
The only rodeo I went to was in Florida. Now you make me dream of watching an authentic Texan one. Denim is of course a must. And you wear denim beautifully! I am on for the party. Hope it's not too late. Will wear a kerchief scarf for sure… to look like a real (French!) cowgirl…
    See you there 🙂

  3. Yee haw! Too funny that we're both rocking the western wear look today. You look fabulous in your denim-on-denim ensemble. Come visit in Scottsdale — you'll get lots of use out of your western clothes!

  5. For me turquoise jewelry represents western style so I don't think you have to wear western wear. You look fabulous in yours version.

  6. You did a great job of pulling off denim with denim. Love the red/orange accent with it and the jewelry is perfect! I think you made us all quite hungry. Have a great time at the rodeo, sounds like a blast.

  7. Hi! Just came across your blog. I have eaten at Texas Pride several times. Great Texas Bar-b-que! I was born and raised in San Antonio and we now live in Universal Ctiy Texas. I just retired from Randolph AFB and remember the many office luncheons held there. Nice blog!
