Favorite Winter Garments

“My old grandmother always used to say, Summer friends will
melt
away like summer snows, but winter friends are friends
forever.”
― George R.R. Martin
So, hello winter friends!
I realize that for many of you, winter just got very, very brutal.  I hope all will be warm and safe.
Winter for South Texas just does not last long and happens
in between spring-like days and an occasional cold front.  So, I am ever mindful that my time is short
with my favorite winter garments.
This is the second time I have worn my leopard cape from Lane Bryant, but I
wanted to make sure I styled it one more time on the blog for this winter.  It is one of my favorites and very warm.  Since, our season is only a whisper, I need to make sure I answer with the garments only designed for the cold.  I purchased the necklace a year ago from a
beautiful, creative young woman.  We were
both at a trade show for women and one of her necklaces was selected to be worn
on The Young and The Restless because one of the show’s stars was speaking at the event and was completely taken with her work.  Nadia is gorgeous and very talented.
What is your favorite winter garment this year??  Please share with us and have a warm,
wonderful Wednesday.

  1. What a fabulous cape
    It just got brutal here!
It is so hard to get up in the morning when it is so cold, all I can think about putting on is sweat pants and uggs.
    Thankfully, I don't!

  2. Our weather is like yours, Pam, and I have to savor my cold-weather pieces. For me, it's probably my boot collection. I hate to put them away! Love your cape and gorgeous necklace.

  3. Hi Pam,
I am in southern Connecticut and we are looking at 10 degrees tomorrow. I have a cape similar to yours given to me by a dear relative. Its is requisite and I love to throw it across my long coat for xtra warmth. It gives such a feel of elegance. you look lovely in yours . Enjoy

  4. Oh Barbara, keep warm and safe…I heard how hard it is to breathe on the lungs. If I ever get super cold weather, I will remember you and throw this cape over a coat! Thanks for your sweet words!

  5. Leopard is SUCH fun! (Faux leopard, of course.)

My favorite winter garment this year? Something I'd forgotten about, picked up in Paris 4 years ago in a little boutique on a cold evening as I was (inappropriately) headed to an art opening! It's a deep green, a one-of-a-kind design, all wool, very funky, and WARM WARM WARM! It's also fairly short, which for moi, being of the very shrimpy persuasion, was a stroke of luck!

I've worn it a lot the past two months – with all black (top and pants, or top and pencil skirt). Love it, love it, love it – not only for its uniqueness and warmth, but because it brings back memories of friends in Paris and, well… a whole other life. Good memories!

  6. Unlike you, my cold season is the longest, so I have many winter clothes. My favourites are boots, which I wear with thick tights and long skirts. I have some plain, flat brown boots I bought about 7 years ago and they are still going strong. I just purchased some matt blue Wellingtons to wear when it's very muddy / slushy and for walks on the beach at Tynemouth.

  7. Boots are one reason I wish I had more cold weather…I love to wear boots and our time for wearing them is too short. We spend most of the year in sandals. Stay safe in this incredible cold.

  8. I don't think I can have a favorite winter garment when I hate winter soooo much. What am I doing living in the Northeast all my life? Weird!

  9. I love that cape!! Like really love.
I just have to say my uggs. I know they're not that fashionable but wow, they are warm! It's -22 with the windchill here today. So yes, uggs it is!! xo
