One of my favorite color combinations!

Heat often zaps my desire to fashion outfits!  When the weather makes you think that flip
flops, tanks, and shorts are the only options, then it has won and taken all of
the fun out of fashion.  But, since I
live in a warmer climate most of the year, I have learned to resist the
temptation to “not care,” and make sure that I put in the extra effort.
Why?  Because, when I
do, I feel better about me.  My
confidence is up and I can go out with a smile on my face and tackle the heat
or whatever else life wants to throw my way!
All I did today was add some fun accessories!  The young check-out girl at Ulta went crazy
for this necklace….which was purchased at Target about two years ago on a
clearance rack (I think it was four dollars).
We had a great conversation about where to find fun accessories bridging
the age gap!
Skirt, tank top: Lane Bryant
Jacket: Dress Barn
Necklace: Target
Bracelet: Chicos
Shoes: Ross
Sunglasses: Carmen Marc Valvo
It only takes little things to make big differences.  I did not work today….(start another round of
summer school on Monday)…but I fixed up just to run errands.  It makes such a difference for me and for the
people I encounter.  I think it is worth
the time.  What about you?  Does the heat take away your desire to care about your dress?
Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!!

  1. The heat definitely has an impact. The ONLY reason I've stepped out the last two days is to snap the daily photo. Like the clerk, I really like the necklace too.

  2. The heat has definitely sapped my energy! I am still putting just a bit more effort into dressing well despite the heat, and I agree, it does make one feel better. I've even carried the philosophy of putting my best dressed self forth at home even on days I don't leave the house. Mid-life changes have taken a bit of a toll, so just pushing myself to do that little bit extra has given my self esteem and mood a boost!

  3. Pam, I dress the best I can everyday. Never leave the house without it………But, when I get home look out! I think today was the hottest day of our summer so far (105) and our AC locked up.
Just went outside to see if it felt cooler….NOT! Guess we gotta love God's humor and from the Midwest I can truly say be careful what you wish for!

  4. Lovely! (Trying to pay more attention to putting myself together this summer as I go out… then again, I have a few more opportunities to do so, which I'm taking advantage of. It's fun!)

  5. Great summer outfit, Pam – I love your necklace and bracelet. I do "fix up" most non-work days, although I go light on makeup and hairstyle in the heat.

  6. Love the necklace! Why buy embellished tank tops when you can add your own pretties? Love your entire outfit! So, say "Dang the heat! Motor on!".

  7. Yes, the effort makes a difference and your bracelet adds so much to this outfit. It's an accessory that I'm paying a lot of attention to right now. You look cool and unflappable standing next to the lovely green fern!

  8. As long as I am getting dressed inside an airconditioned house I am fine. If I had to get dressed outside I would probably just live in a swimsuit lol

  9. We just had a round of very hot and sticky weather here. When I am at home I just wear knit shorts and a tank top. When I'm at work or out and about I do dress up more…..I don't really care for stuff on my neck (whether a necklace, hair, scarf) when it's hot. I totally think that when you dress nice you act and feel nicer.

  10. I could use some heat right about now- I'm getting weary of sweater wearing in summer!

I agree- make the effort is worth it, in all weather conditions!

  11. That necklace is wonderful. Living in the Northeast, we wait 9 months of the year for summer. But the high humidity sometimes takes a toll. I miss wearing scarves and necklaces like yours. So sometimes I tie a scarf on my tote and opt for earrings and a thin bracelet. And I try to dress a little better when I leave the house. I can't wear my yoga clothes 24/7!
