Purple, Red Hats and Summer Gloves…and Savings for Teachers!!

‘When I am an old woman I shall wear purple, with a red hat which doesn’t go and doesn’t suit me, And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves, And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.”
-Jenny Joseph

I do not know why I like that quote…but I do.  I also like purple and would wear it almost every day, if it was acceptable….but then, I would get bored with it and be labeled the PURPLE LADY, and being the SCARF LADY is label enough.
So since, I want to always love purple and never tire of it…I will keep it for an occasional treat!
Gigi and I both wore purple this week…it was fun!  She looked quite artistic and scholarly…mine was minimal, but I love this purple, silk jacket I found at Chico’s about three years ago. My jacket is perfect for warm weather….lightweight and cool.  Gigi also found her necklace and belt at Chico’s and this fabulous bracelet of mine??…YES, Chico’s!!
Teachers, you can save on Chicos accessories with the coupon below from Facebook…add it to your Passport savings for even more!!

Please stop by tomorrow and I will show you what Texas ladies wear this time of year to an outdoor event!

Until then, Happy Wednesday to all!!

  1. That quote is from a poem from Jenny Jones, I believe. Anyway, it is quite popular with us Red Hatters. I wear purple with a red hat on first Tuesday of each month when our chapter gets together. Of course, I like purple and red anytime, just not necessarily together!

  2. Good morning ladies…what I love about blogging is that someone always knows the stories behind the quotes I find…and Anita, purple is the color of strength and dignity (that's why I love it so)…Thanks for stopping by!!

  3. What an appropriate quote as today is my 55th birthday! And I have my Chico's $10 coupon ready to spend.

  4. Many years ago, my mom and I enjoyed that quote because we both wore purple all the time without the slightest hesitation. We are not hat ladies, but will readily spend the butter money on sandals. Now, it just makes me wonder, how would one know if one was "an old woman"?

  5. That ruffle top and circle necklace in the first photo are amazing!! I love purple too, just have to find a good shade that suits me!!
have a super day!! xo J

  6. My friend loves that quote!
Unfortunately, I cannot wear purple…look absolutely dreadful in it you however, look great 😉
    Have a 'purple' day Pam.

  7. You both look fabulous. I love that Jenny Joseph poem – I once met a group of women in London who all met up socially, on a regular basis, wearing red hats as a tribute to the poem!

  8. Wow, love both of your purples, but really longing for your bracelet. I had an antique rhinestone cuff in college, and lost it somewhere along life's long, long path 😛 Your cuff reminded me how much I enjoyed wearing it!
