Black Friday Blackout!

Wear Black...of course!
Black Jacket:Old Navy
Michael Kors Black T: Stein Mart
Lee Slimming Jeans: Kohls

I’ve come to the conclusion that Black Friday is all about the experience and not the prices. After all, you can find amazing prices online and even after Friday, so it must be the thrill of the chase. We have a family that has camped out for the last two weeks at the front door of Best Buy. They have received a great amount of media attention…in fact, I really believe Best Buy owes them an advertising fee.

Here's the Story:  Families Camp Our for Black Friday

Necklace and ring: Stein Mart
Apt. 9 Bracelet: Kohls

The last time I joined in the madness, about two years ago, I was standing with several hundred of my closest friends at KOHLS, sweating profusely, and wondering WHY? The joy was gone. So, I will not be there this Friday. I have to cook any way, a football game will delay our Thanksgiving one day…my boys are Aggies and I am a Longhorn, so somebody is not going to be happy at dinner!! If the meal comes out perfectly though, we might forget the rivalry.

Brand new Target shoes, tages still on: $1.99 at Goodwill! Yes, I wear them often!

Just in case some of you are curious, here is a link for Black Friday deals….let me know if you have any great stories to tell!http://www.theblackfriday.com/

Off to the grocery store!!

  1. Pam, I'm right there with you! There's really nothing that I NEED and if I did, I'd get it when I needed it. I'll probably go with my kids on Friday to the mall so that they can go nuts! LOL But I think I'll be looking for a Starbucks to sit and read! Happy Thanksgiving! ~Serene

  2. Im with ya Pam....I did it ONCE....and that will be the only time in my life, lol.

Super cute studded shoes at a steal...love them:)

  3. No black Friday for me.
I love seeing you, your lovely accessories.
Is that the entrance to your house with pumpkins???

  4. I avoid stores and malls like the plague on BF. Your simple ensemble is very chic. Good luck with the Thanksgiving football rivalry!

  5. I'm skipping it this year too, first year in many but its just gotten too out of control for me. Love your studded shoes and that awesome ring. Have a wonderful holiday!

  6. My daughters and I used to go just to watch the people too. It's become too ugly...no fun. Do you think that family is hoping to get some kind of special deal or something for free?

  7. Love these shoes, Pam. Did you know they are a nearly exact match to the Valentino flats? I just saw them in a recent post on 'Keep It Chic.' You got yours for A LOT less than whatever the price on the Valentino's are going for. I'm so behind on everything because of my new holiday job but wanted to stop by and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! I am going to photograph Xmas windows soon, I am right in the thick of it all at Bloomingdale's on 59th and Lex. Whee! XO, Jill

  8. I used to go to the mall just for the experience, too. I didn't even mind the crowds. But as I become more and more mindful in my spending, I stay away now. I plan to spend Black Friday wrapping Christmas presents; they have to be mailed cross country, so I get an early start.

  10. I also won't be participating in black Friday. For one, I'm working and two... it's so much fuss for such little benefit. I completely agree that you can find great deals (sometimes even better deals) by waiting a few weeks. And, then you're not waiting in line for hours feeling uncomfortable!

  11. you do indeed look great, Pamela! Found your blog via "A Femme..."

I avoid BF and most retail outlets at this time of year. I have become a big fan of catalog shopping. I also love to find deals at Good Will at other thrift stores: 12 perfect martini glasses for $10!! I can break them often, if I so choose.

Shopping as recreation has never appealed to me -- my central nervous system just can't take the stimuli I guess. Here's to a sane and healthy holiday!

    PS...love the jewelry!

  12. Pam, it's really great to see larger photos of you. You look gorgeous. And I love love love your jewelry.

    Happy Thanksgiving, hon!

  13. You are great with jeans! Thanksgiving is not celebrated in my country, but also I will be preparing a delicious meal for family and friends. Happy Thanksgivin next!

  14. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I am staying home as much as I can this weekend. It has just gotten way to crazy for me to want to venture out.I had a lady get mad at me today for having the audacity to be on the correct side of the road in my own lane when she wanted to but through. Oh my, it is going to be fun for a while.
You look lovely and I am going to have to check out those jeans.

  15. On Black Friday... I hide! I used to go to the mall with my brother to peoplewatch the stressed-out bargain hunters. Now, I prefer to not leave the house. This time, I'm going to help my M-I-L sort out some stuff and clean a bit. She's recovering from a broken leg, while still recovering from TWO broken legs (long story).

Thanks so much for joining in our conversation today! I appreciate your time and love hearing from you!
