Favorite Autumn Colors: #2 Red and Brown Combo

Brown Cardigan:  Chicos
Red Cami: Chicos
Print Blouse: Foleys
Lauren Jeans Skirt: Macys
Brown Tights: Lane Bryant
Leopard Flats: Targer

If you just look at the items around my home, you will see how much I am attracted to brown and red together! I am drawn to patterns and prints where brown with a pop of red are the predominant scheme.

I guess that is why I have kept today’s blouse in my closet for so long. Years ago we had a retailer in town named Foley’s which has since been purchased by Macy’s. Foley’s had the most phenomenal, RED APPLE SALES….a one day sale where they put out their lowest prices. I bought this blouse there for only $13.00 and though it is a little loose now…I still love it. I always put much thought into what will stay in my closet and what will go. There are items which get quickly circulated through a thrift or consignment shop…or sometimes donated. However, I have several pieces I could see hanging on to as long as I have a closet on this earth. I actually have a jacket I wear every winter which I purchased in my 20s in Las Vegas….but it withstands time!

Bracelet: Langford Market

What is the oldest piece of clothing in your closet that you still wear now??

  1. Hmmm…. that is a good question. I have a buttery soft carmel leather jacket that I LOVE. I have never gotten sick of it and it always makes me feel a wee bit prettier when I wear it. Love the pop of red and that bracelet! xo

  2. Ah, red and brown, how I love thee! Those have long been wardrobe staples for me, though my collection is growing thin. That blouse is a keeper.

And while I tend to wear things a long time — a good 50% of my wardrobe is probably over 5 years old — I don't have anything really, really old. My tastes have changed and my closet space is limited!

  3. You are gorgeous in brown abd red Pma, and that skirt, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh makes me weak at the knees LOL.
We still have a sweater that my mother bought me when I was 15. It was expensive then, but it is still worn by me and my girls.
    It cannot get any better.
    Besosssssssssssss

  4. Those colors suit you, Pam! Very nice.

Hmmm…oldest piece of clothing….I'll have to look through my closet. I'm almost sure it will turn out to be a purse.

  5. That is a gorgeous blouse, Pam, and I love seeing the colors of your home too (*love* that pillow). I have a pretty small closet, but I do have a black vintage dress I've owned for about 10 years, and I still wear it.

  6. Pam, you look lovely. The top has such a pretty print. I remember years ago, I wore a brown and red combination to work and got comments along the line that it was a combination that people liked, but would have never thought of wearing together. It is good to know that I am not the only one that likes this combo!
I have one butter soft brown leather blazer that I still love to wear that is probably 10 years old.

  7. Happy Tuesday babes.. I love brown and red also.. and also brown and turquoise.. brown.. of course is a great color!!!

ZUMBA.. I have never tried it but it sounds fun. I recently tried a jaZzercise class with a friend who loves it.. not my thing though.. too many memories of aerobics and how uncoordinated I am.. .thats why I teach spin.. you dont have to be coordinated for that.. LOL no grapevine and that kinda stuff for this girl!!! LOL

  8. beautiful bracelet! i think brown is a nice compliment to many colors as well!

i can't even tell you my oldest item…i have many. i don't even remember buying them, that's how old they are. i know i have some jeans that are over 10 years old.

zumba was so much fun! i'll need a few more classes to get the moves down, but a great workout! our teacher has this rockin', hard, chiseled body…it's a great motivator! she also alternates between abs and butt…so this coming week is butt busters which i'm totally down for, lo!!

    [oomph.]

  9. I'm glad you kept the top! It looks great on you.

I still have a lumpy, granola-ish brown and cream sweater that I wear still. I first bought it my senior year in high school and wore it in my senior portraits. I've been meaning to do a post on it. Perhaps I will!

  10. Red and brown are definatly in your color palette! They look great on you~
I dug up an old item out of my closet today–only about 15 years old–I have some older stuff!

  11. Lately I've been finding myself purging more and more of the old stuff… not even that It doesn't fit or doesn't look good, but my style has been evolving, and it seems silly to hold on to things I'm not really wearing.

I do agree with you that red and brown is an awesome color combo, and you should just have your blouse taken in!

    Chic on the Cheap
