Teacher By Day….Hitting the Fashion Beat By Night!!

Today is a big day in the fashion world!!  New York Fashion Week kicks off debuting Spring 2012 looks;   Fashions Night Out, created by Vogue’s Anna Wintour and the Council of Fashion Designers of America to give the industry an economic boost is tonight; Project Runway continues tonight with over 50 designer Bert Keeter still in the mix; and last, but not least, many of our fellow fashion bloggers have gathered in New York for an IFB conference! Not wanting to be on the sidelines, Gigi and I plan to head out into the big city…pounding the pavement for looks and stories which may interest you!   There are events at both of our premiere malls, North Star Mall and La Cantera Mall.   Whenever I know that I am going to cover an event, I look at my wardrobe choice with three things in mind:

1.        I want to look youthful , stylish, and professional
2.       I want comfort….especially with my feet!!
3.       My accessories should not get in the way of note taking or photography….in short, I go for bracelets which do not make noise or move up and down my arm.

The heat is creeping back up after our little refreshing cool front, so I went with my denim skirt just too keep my legs cool.   The top and scarf hopefully add the stylish look, but keep the outfit simple enough that I do not think about what I am wearing while at the event.  With a statement scarf such as this one, I went for a very simple slate grey stud for the earring.  My Old navy flats are new, but they are super comfortable.  For $15….this is one of the best buys in town.  When I purchased these at the end of August, they had stocked many colors. Finally, I pack my large Simply Vera purse with a reporter’s notebook; a backup camera; sugarless gum; plenty of my business cards; extra pens; cell phone and touch up lipstick.  Hopefully, Gigi and I will have some fun and find some stories as we hit the fashion beat!

Comfortable Shoes are a must for event coverage!!

Plan where you will go ahead of time!!

Think over what you will
look for!!

Anyone else going out tonight???

  3. I really can't believe that I didn't plan to do any FNO stuff in San Francisco. Do I have to give my blogger membership card back? But seriously, why am I not going? Like you could answer that question for me. ha.

Have fun and take lots of pics.

  5. I wasn't planning to go out but an interesting vintage place had an event, so I had to go. Then I had a nice, spontaneous, late-night dinner with a friend — something we had spoken about doing for ages but never planned! So it worked out very well.
