FNO – PART THREE Looks I Loved!

I love this look!!
Fashion is, perhaps by necessity, in a world of its own – one that only rarely overlaps with anything resembling real life. This fantasy and exoticism is part of its appeal, of course.  –Vince Alette
Eleanor also tried on this Prada…
only about $2300!
Sometimes when I attend these events, I feel as though I have just entered a fantasy world.  My world does not include valet parking, $2500 dresses, fur coats, strands of diamonds, or even $600 shoes…unless, of course, I stumble upon an amazing consignment shop!  However, attending events like FNO take me into that world, if only for just a short time and I really think it is fun!  Being a reporter, gives me a reason to experience each moment to its fullest.  I also receive inspiration for my own style….while I cannot afford many of the clothes at Neiman Marcus…I do believe that I captured some mannequins which can inspire a look or two for me!  I was encouraged to meet some wonderful 50+ women who also have a love of the fashion world.  They beg for more events along the lines of FNO.  I had such a good time with my friends Gigi and Eleanor so I think this is a great girl’s night out as well.  I hope you enjoy some of my favorite moments from the evening in this slide show.  It was a fantasy world I thoroughly enjoyed.

Gigi purchased this incredible dress at Langford
Market for her daugher.  It was only $60 and I
thought looked easily like at $200 dress.  That is
my kind of shopping!!

Society Diaries is a new magazine for South Texas which
debuted at the runway show in SA and Austin.  My eye caught Bob Mackie’s signature as
one who designed the cover.

As much as I loved the fashion…I also loved the artwork…the window displays…antique chandeliers lit dimly at sunset…and women with fabulous smiles.    Tomorrow, I will return here as the incognito SouthTexas high school teacher!!

  1. Pam, it's so true….even with all the thrifting I do, I'm still inspired by retail stores. It's hard for me to even imagine someone paying $2500 for a dress! This just looks like it was so much fun!!! Big hug to you! ~Serene

  2. Your slide show is fabulous. I LOVE that look on the mannequin in the top pic, the long skirt over the boots and the leather jacket, gorgeous and very wearable. Eleanor looks like she was BORN to wear Prada….

  3. Hi Pam, sounded like fun and the pictures are really nice, like your slide show and nice clothes – I am going to fabulous event in October but i can not talk about it yet!

  4. Yeah, not only is a $2,500 outfit not in my vocabulary, a $250 is also out of reach. Now, if you drop yet another 'zero'…. $25, that I can do!

  5. I can't imagine who pays that much money .It's nice to live in a fantasy world for sometime we all need that! Now ,that i think of it I use style blogging as an inspiration ,something to wind up after a hard day. Loved your slide show!!!

  6. Pam, Thank you for your comment!!! It's so funny… I have been thinking of you all day.

  7. I often wonder what that world would be like with all those riches. But alas, I too am not privy to that world.

That first pic that you posted and said you love that outfit? I think it would look amazing on you. I bet you could put it together with what you already have in your closet. It's a Pam outfit for sure!! Lovely.

    xo,

  8. I'll bet Eleanor is dreaming of Prada. I think I like this one even better than yesterday's! And I think Gigi found a real bargain.
