Life Is Short….Celebrate Each Minute and, Go Ahead, Wear Some Bling!!
Twice in the last two months, life has demanded my attention. I already shared with you my allergic reaction which found me later that night in the emergency room with little ability to breathe. But, then came this past Monday morning. Every morning for me is clockwork….I rise at the same time…leave at the same time…turn contemporary Christian music on my radio…and begin to pray in between home and school. I stop at the same lights…see the same runners…grimace at the same road construction…same old…same old. Monday I was first at the light of an access road to one of our major freeways, praying and thinking of my freshman in college. I really became involved in specific prayers for his first day…so much so that I hesitated when the light turned green and I did not go right away. Just as I caught the green glow in my eye and moved my foot toward the accelerator, a speeding blur of a pickup truck appeared before me running the red light at a high rate. If I had reacted and moved forward one second earlier, I would not be here to write this post. It was chilling.

Both of these instances have reminded me that life is a gift each and every day. A gift to be enjoyed…not wasted…used to its fullest…with no time for whining….no time for worrying…no time for putting off.
Today is the day to wear clothes that make you SMILE! |
It’s a time to eat on the fine china….use the expensive perfume….carry the designer handbag…plant the flowers you have always wanted…pursue the dreams you have previously believed impossible…change the furniture in your house…paint the walls new colors…go on the trip you’ve been waiting for the right time to take…learn to experience massage…maybe even, dare I say it, get a small tattoo in a place only you and your significant other knows of….and, yes, as I have done today, have the courage to wear some BLING!! Because, each day is a gift….we choose to keep it wrapped on a shelf or we choose to open it and ENJOY!
Do you have a bucket list you would care to share with the rest of us??
It's good that your practice the teachings of Paul to pray without ceasing. Perhaps when driving you could take your prayers from all-consuming to mindful awareness!
The newest addition to my bucket list is seeing the Tillerman bridge south of Las Vegas. It looks awesome.
I thank God for His impeccable timing in your prayer pause! Your morning sounds a bit like mine what with the music, drive and all. I have to say that I would like to go on a cruise before I die. I have never been on one.
Oh Pam….nothing happens by accident, does it? I use my time to drive to work as my prayer time also….I guess I don't have a bucket list. I want to travel, but mostly I want to learn to be content. So thankful that you are safe girly! Big Big hug to you! ~Serene

So glad you're ok after the accident. I'm totally agree with your thoughts, we should make the most of everyday as life is too short to waste it. About bling, I like it, it's perfect to put some shine in autumn/winter dark outfits.
A great reminder, Pam. My grandmother once said, "there's no point in having nice things if you don't use them," and I apply that a broader sense, to mean that we should enjoy life now, and not wait for a tomorrow that may not come. And yes, wear your favorite bling.
Hmmm… I think I've done a lot of my prior bucket list… guess it's time to come up with a new one!
Whew, a scary event… glad you got such good care. I do not have a bucket list, it is more a sense of what is appealing at the time, balanced against the realities of budget! I say a heartfelt yes to all your ideas as long as one does not plunge into debt.
Oh Pam, so glad you are still here. The world needs you , and more like you. Life is indeed very precious and precarious. Hug all the people you love a lot! And wear everything you love too!
That sounds scary. I'm glad that you are safe, and nobody was hurt.
I know this to be true! Do what we love now, as life turns on a dime. What a close call, and happy to see that you celebrated with 'bling.'
oh girl you know i wear my bling as often as i can
glad you are with us posting this post!!
the big thing on my bucket list was to go the CMAFest and did just that in June
it was FAB!!

I'm so glad you waited!! And a wonderful reminder for today, thank you!
Wow. So glad you hesitated. I wasn't sure where your story was going at first. I thought you were going to say that as you were moving your foot to the accelerator, the car behind you started to honk aggressively and ruined your peace of mind. The actual story is WAY more awful than that. Super glad you're ok. I think you should reward yourself with some cargo pants. wink!
Love your bling.
xoxo,
Tracy
Goodness, Pam. I am SO glad you're okay. That's really scary. I think I'm going to go write a bucket list now…
Glad you are o.k. It's so scary and unsettling to have a close call like that. xo
Here in Wichita, we always hesitate at a green light. Red light running must be a sport here, because so many people do it. I have had numerous close calls and even was hit once by a lady running a red light. Totalled my car. It is so scary to think that a mere second can change your life completely. I am thankful that you are okay and still wearin' the bling!
We are still having over 100 degree temps here and now have officially had the most over 100 degree days ever in recorded Wichita history. We will have a cold snap this weekend and the temps are expected to be in the low 90's, HA!
So glad you are safe to tell us the story and remind us of how fragile our life is.Great words of inspiration on a Thursday morning!
You are so very right!!! We should embrace everyday like it is our last.
Again, so very inspiring. I love the title, it sums it all up so well… life is too short, wear some bling! LOL I love that!!
