Honey, I’m Home….Wearing Menswear! And FBFF Pet Peeves Too!

A friend of mine asked me why I do these blogger challenges….honestly, because they are fun! I am not attempting to compete with the younger girls…or hungry for attention…I just simply find them to be fun!

I’ve worn menswear before…in my much younger days. Once I worked in management as the Communications Manager for an automobile distributorship. As the only female on the management team, I enjoyed an occasional whimsical moment and would wear a tie or even a tuxedo to special events and car shows. I really like the look.

Busyness has robbed my creativity lately…I would have loved more time to put some thought and a special touch or two into this look. But it is what it is……a classic menswear feel!!

Now for the real creativity, check out the other Bloggers who do it better at Bloggers Do It Better

Now, confess, do any of you really wear a men’s tie every now and then??

The second challenge today is Modly Chic Friend Friday and today Katy discusses blogging pet peeves.  I am certain we all have them, but here are mine:

1. Stealing Ideas.  It is disheartening to work hard on a blog only to have your ideas obviously stolen and “slightly tweaked” by someone else!!
2. Light Colored Fonts with long body copy.  Something I teach my students NOT to do with their publication, but I find in a few blogs. This is not difficult to fix and might increase hits!
3. Mostly merchandising items with no personal touch.  I can read an ad circular any where, so I probably will not read it here.
4.  Using a fashion blog to further a political agenda.  Here for fashion, not politics.  This is a pet peeve of mine with fashion magazines also.
5. Cold, unfriendly, prideful attitudes.  I love a blog that is warm, welcoming and friendly and will usually avoid any that are not.

You can read other answers by clicking the Modly Chic link above…your pet peeve may be a blogger who combines blogging events into one post!!

So, here’s one more,  just hop on over  Over 40 Blog Hop!!!
I think I am finally done!!!!

  3. Wonderful job on the challenge – the hat and tie were perfect touches!

I really enjoyed your answers to the FBFF topic. I love that you took a more personal approach to it instead of focusing strictly on the technical side of a blog!

  4. Super cute!

I prefer warm and friendly blogs as well.

It is frustrating for me to read a blog and have to strain to see the words.

Could you please let me know if you think I am using light colored fonts? Thank you.

  5. Love the fedora. Most of your pet peeves are mine also. Following from Follow Friday 40. Have a great weekend!

  8. You look so GREAT! I love this look on you. And, yes, you are definitely having fun. It shows. Good for you.

I'm not surprised that you like blogs that are warm, welcoming and friendly because that is precisely what I get from you and your blog and why I love it every day. Thanks for bringing us so much joy!

  9. Thanks for visiting my blog earlier. You're so sweet. I'm a new follower of your blog. Have a great weekend.

  10. youre so playful its great.. and I know what you mean about busyness robbing creativity… I have to plan out some outfits this weekend so I dont have to think on the run next week!!
    happy weekend!! xx J

  11. You look AWESOME! I may have to give that look a try ;). Thanks for popping by my blog. I am your newest follower too. Off to snoop around your blog some more!

  12. Your blog is fun. You go, girl, with all the pics of your "fashion self". Love it. I think we have a lot in common. I'm (way) over 40, but "24 In My Mind". Keep bloggin'. Oh, and I liked your tips for bloggers. I'm pretty new at this and I appreciate the suggestions. Allie

  13. Howdy Neighbor! I absolutely LOVE the blog pet peeves. Awesome and quite true. I have another one; those informal comments that people post on your blog when they are new there: You know the ones…'I'm following you from…won't you please follow back'..with of course, the shameless self promotion. I love to hear feedback from my readers, but those informal comments aren't feedback. In fact, it leaves you wondering whether they actually read anything on your page. Yep…big pet peeve there.

As for the rest of your blog, I have indeed skimmed through and can I just say…Love Ya! Exactly what I'd expect from a Texas lady! Will follow…Have a beautiful weekend. (are you getting any of those storms?)

  14. When I was working away from home I wore ties! When I was a teen you could find me in a vest and tie. I love that you take on the challenges! You look fabulous!I always enjoy my visits to your lovely blog.I hope you'll stop by Katherines Corner. The new giveaway is up! xo

  15. You know why you do it? Because you inspire women like me. I went through a bit of a mid life crisis when it came to fashion and because of blogs like yours, I'm having more fun than I EVER did in my twenties/thirties. So seriously keep it up and thank you.

  16. I'm not a fashionista. I'll never be one and I'm good with that; becoming one isn't something that will ever be jotted down on my "bucket list". I'm a stay-at-home grandmother so I don't get dressed everyday to go to a workplace. We live in a city, but it's a smallish one and is surrounded by farming communities. This place I love so much is about as far from urban as the north is from the south and looking overtly stylish is to stand out like a sore thumb when running into "the Wal-Mart" for a gallon of milk. With that in mind, I say "bless you". I've found inspiration for so many outfits on your site, things that I can modify and downplay a little so that it's more appropriate for my "rural suburban" life. The outfit you put together for this challenge is one of those that I'm definitely going to copy, and girl, I will 'rassle you for that hat 😉

  17. Love the look and it is fun to participate in things like this, isn't it? Years ago when I worked in journalism it would annoy me to see my idea ripped off, it took me a while to accept that that's just what happens, take a look at any mag or paper and there's always a variation on the zeitgeist.
Not belittling that you probably had a very original idea ripped off!
And I also agree on politicscommebt, I keep thinking I should be writing about Strauss Khan but my blog us about fripperies so I'm holding back.

  18. One of my pet peeves is when a picture of the blog writer is nowhere to be found. I like knowing whos writing it makes me more connected somehow. Hoe am I supposed to feel like I know them and want to comment and follow if I don't know what they look like? Am I alone in this?

  19. Hi Pam
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on my florals. Sorry for delay in getting back to you – life has taken over soemwhat and am way behind on following up on comments.
Love your preppy look. And you're from San Antonio. That is one of the few places I have visited in the US. Spent many happy hours at the River Walk.
    love
    Lori xo
