Priority Number Four for 2011: Be Courageous!!

The key to change….is to let go of fear.” -Rosanne Cash

Well said, Rosanne! I often encourage my students to not let fear hold them back. In fact, the best way to stop success is to build a wall of fear in between success and you.

For the most part, I am a very courageous person. But, as I have worked more with my wardrobe in the production of this blog, I began to notice too many similar patterns. There are some days I stand in the closet and think that I am starring at the same outfit over and over again. The blog has challenged me to think beyond those boundaries.

So, for 2011, I desire to be even more courageous and this outfit represents that desire totally. I found the dress on a clearance rack at Lane Bryant over the holiday. The sales girls must have thought I was moving in, because it took a very long time for me to muster up the courage to purchase it.

Now, I realize to some of you that is laughable. But, for me it was a big step. It has been a long time since I showed this much leg at school!!  Woa Baby!

As I have written before, I really love a wrap design…because it is flattering. But, the “wimpy” little belt which accompanied the dress did not help the look. So, I replaced it with the thicker black and silver belt; added a Lane Bryant jacket; turned back the cuffs to enhance the jacket look; added a pair of Hanes black hose; and my Enzo Angiolini, black & silver, patten, pointy toed shoes to top it off. The compliments received (including my husband) have encouraged me to “step out of my comfort zone”again!

Motivational speaker, John Maxwell said, “If we’re growing, we’re always going to be out of our comfort zone.”

Well, ladies, I have to say, I like it out here!

Gigi reached back in her closet today
and found an old Carol Little jacket &
I loved it!!  Had to put it here for
you!

A Special Thank You: I just wanted to thank all of you who wrote sweet words on the blog and through email concerning the sudden death of my uncle. Thank you all so much for your kindness. It is appreciated more than you realize.

  6. Glad to have you back
Hope all is as well as it can be due to the circumstances.
Sorry for laughing at you standing in the store deciding on the dress. The reason I was laughing is because I have quite a few friends that do the same thing. Sometimes they will even text me a picture and ask my advice
I am such a fly by the seat of my pants girl and just grab and go. Consequences Be Damned.

Well, that might be a bit dramatic!

  7. I love the dress and how you have dressed up the whole outfit! Wide belts are good. Since I am a redhead/stawberry blond I have a lot of boring black & brown.

  9. Not being that familiar with your "normal" style, I saw this awesome outfit on you and immediately thought, "Now, THAT'S a great look!" You are rocking this dress, big time! I love the pointy flats with it - and girl, you have got lovely ankles and calves, so show 'em! (One suggestion: buy nylons/pantyhose with Lycra so that the ankles don't bag.).
