Be Brave….Mix It Up!
It is a beautiful evening…I am loving the color. This time next week it will be dark and I can light candles at my desk!
This year’s Project Runway got me thinking about mixed patterns because I loved Mondo’s designs. He was brilliant with his ability to mix patterns beautifully, but it is the kind of design aesthetic that can easily go horribly wrong.
Today, in my very small way, I attempted to mix it up a little. I put this silk boyfriend pinstrip (Marshall’s) with a Dana Buchman leopard top (Kohl’s). It seemed to work. This is a very conservative color scheme, but maybe I will get a little braver next time and try a bolder move. I don’t believe Mondo needs to feel threatened!!
If you are in the mood for fall and to mix it up, try my favorite Pumpkin Bread Recipe!
(Road Trip again tomorrow!)
Excellent combination. The colors are good together, the patterns similar in size, and the fabrics complimentary in weight.
I always go look through the Dana Buchman section at Kohl's.
The IT business has its share of Asian folks and over the years I have been mystified by the pattern/color mixes that some of the gals come up with. It's not haphazard – these are women who have obviously spent time and energy putting outfits together.
I've come to think there is a cultural perceptual component to what we look at and think "works."
